Well, with Bungie leaving Microsoft and Pandemic and Bioware selling out to EA...this should fit right in the mix of things! It shows how our industry is consistantly evovling...

Im a Die Hard Sonic Fan, he is the first reason I put video games and art in the same category. When the Genisis days were over, I became VERY disapointed with his newer and next gen games :paper: (the 360 game was the biggest disapointment ever) But now I have a reason to be optimistic that his character will be rejuvinated. I think sega and sonic team have done a poor job maintaining the personality of this gamming icon, giving him pointless allies, and giving us no meaningfull gameplay. I think Nintendo is giving sonic a fighting chance by letting him into SSBB....:thumb:

I hope to see more of these two team up or square off in the future. This will be a move in the right direction for both characters.

All I can say is....expect the unexpected

I read about this yesterday. It wasn't THAT unexpected. It's been rumored for months now, especially after the announcements of the Sonic/Mario Olympics game.

I'm looking forward to playing Snake VS Samus or Snake VS Fox. Those should be interesting matches. Mario VS Sonic? Meh.... Now if they could get Crash in there too, THAT would be a major coup. Never gonna happen though. (kinda like wishing for Master Chief)

it was expected, there was a request befor the began to do SSBB , what character you want to have in there. Manny wanted Sonic to be in the game.

As i wish, Sora from KH will be in this game :P hopefully.

Grid> Sorry, SSBB is Super Smash Brothers Brawl. http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/index.html

I am aware it was expected, I am just saying that a few years ago, I would never have thought that sonic would be in a game with mario of this magnitude.....I guess Im an old school gamer at heart...expecially since sonic was the first game I ever really got into as a child.

That's a joke right gridlinked???

SSBB is short for Super Smash Brothers Brawl, for the Nintendo Wii.

A game that now sadly will not be out till next year... Jan 24th in Japan and Fed 10th in the US.

edit: wow, ask a question and get three answers... opps.. should have refreshed my browser before posting

hmm..I dunno...I'm kinda mixed. I grew up a nintendo kid. Sonic was the enemy. I don't want his edgy overmarketed blue butt staining my nintendo games!!! ;)

kidding aside, this definitely does tug at some old grade school heartstrings though.

Hate on Sonic all you want, but think about all of the BAD mascot-based video games from the pre-PS2 era. Would you prefer....

I thought so. :) Sonic looks nice about now, eh? :p About the only old school mascot I would've loved to have seen again would've been Bonk. His fighting style alone would have made for an interesting SSBB fight.

Hehe sorry guys, i don't have a Wii, and i don't really like 3d fighting games and what not. I like my fighting and platform games 2D, old school style!

Still, cool lineup of characters on a game.

You're missing out on a heckuva lot of fun. It's an especially great system if you like to play in groups.

If you mean 3d fighters or platformers, i've tried enough of them to know i dislike them.

If you mean the Wii, it does intrigue me, i'd like to try it someday, not sure about the control system, i imagine it's very weird trying to play, say, an fps game with it. I can't even play an FPS with a gamepad, keyb+mouse all the way!
Still, could be cool. I do think the Wii has a critical lack of games, however.

Neh I kinda have to disagree, Wii's game so far is great but I must say the games released so far targets a different audience. Still, the game is great enough to be played in a party or something. Certainly not something to play alone all the time, since thats where I think they lack the game you are talking about. Just my limited opinion on my ex-company's Wii :P

I wasn't saying there weren't great games. I do think, and it seems others do as well, that there aren't many games, and i guess you nailed it, there aren't many games for solo play / net multiplay. Which isn't that bad, since i have the PC and 360 for those. Still, would be nice to see more original, "non-wacky" Wii games, more stuff like Metroid Prime 3, Red Steel, or Mario Galaxy.

I have a Wii a DS a 360 and a PSP, they just about cover my gaming needs ;) oh and a beast of a PC....

the Wii is great if you like to invite friends round or go hang out with alot of friends, it sort of encourages multiplayer and getting together as much as the 360 encourages playing online. I'd highly reccommend it as a second console, you will get the occassional beauty of a game like twighlight princess, but it is mainly a multiplayer party console in my eyes, I use my wii a fair bit but thats cause my house is nearest the pubs/clubs me and my friends go to so we play some wii have a few beers then go out to meet the chicas ;)

If you want a single player console then get a 360 and hook it up to the net, then you got a solid console with enough good games and when you want to play real people you got xbox live at your fingertips.

Indeed i got sp/online covered with PC and 360, but i'm growing more curious about the Wii everyday, specially for that socializing with friends on party games, i know my girlfriend has been asking me about it, anyway!

What Wii games are good party games for having the friends over?

Well If you have a girlfriend who doesnt play games much then I'd advise you to get one simply to get her involved in your hobby, out of all my mates who own wii's who are in couples all the girls get really into it, they actually want to play on the console... I'd highly advise it.
