These are all pretty much Free-to-play Korean MMOs?

:/

Which (as a rule of thumb) makes them a ridiculously horribly grindfest, with blatantly obvious balancing offsets that require microtransations to even compete.

The only one I've had fun with:

Gunbound (which is completely free):
http://www.gunbound.com/
http://www.jonnydigital.com/gfx/gunbound-dragon2.jpg

Gameplay is similar to Worms, but each shot gives you money, each round gives you money, and that money will let you buy upgrades (better shots, more money on shots, more angle, more gas, more power, more shield... etc).

Problem with Gunbound is the LAG. When someone times out, the entire room usually has to sit for 2-3 mins at a time, until the server boots them (expect it in 50% of the games).

Otherwise INSANELY fun.

The best of the KMMORPG grindfests are (and you should only really play to look at the jawdroppingly amazing art):

Soul of the Ultimate Nation (Tedious Levelling grind)

[Ragnarok Online (Absolutely Atrocious Levelling Grind)
http://img.gamespot.com/gamespot/images/2004/screen0/561051_20040629_screen001.jpg

Lineage 2 (likely the worst levelling Grind Ever made in a video game - but easily my personal favorite foor hand-painted texture art)

Just to give you an idea how awful the levelling grind in Korean MMO's are....

I had friends that played Ragnarok Online on a Private Server with 150x more experience, 250x more drops. And it levelled quite a bit slower than WoW. (Most of the end gameplay was after the second job change, which happens around level 120), so expect to play about 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, for about 2 months on a PRIVATE server with 150x more experience, to get to the level cap (then you can join in on PVP, clans, guild raids etc). Lord knows how long it would take on the official servers.

i have not heard of any of those games either...but as for korean grindan fests, I used to play 2moons A LOT. i have a level 50ish knight I think... also to add about some grindfests with nice graphics/style, TERA online looks very nice, as does Blade and Soul. (neither are out yet)

I used to play Granado Espada when it was in the beta phase. That game was pretty much a little for the art and a lot for the music. It was a grindfest but when you away you can make your guys auto attack and monsters spawn fast so it wasn't too bad.

But once it got out of beta it was killed but bots.

Thanks for the links, Amy... If your goal is to get people to play these, how about posting some images (and maybe even descriptions) like Jacque did. Jacque's post made me more curious to play some of those games than the ones this thread is about... Thanks, Jacque! :thumb:

I'll be frank, almost all 3D MMO's are a grindfest, but believe me this, play for 1 month a game called Kal Online and nothing will come close to it. Not sure about Ragnarok Online, but still, I'm talking about 3D ones.

It will literally take you 1 week to level up post lvl 30, and thats 'grinding' on monsters which are higher level then you.

However, games to recommend? I'm going on a limb here:

-Silkroad Online (Nice game, but login is a nightmare)
-Requiem Bloodymare (FUN game, but horrible Support)
-Neo-Steam (Meh game, it's either love or hate it)
-Atlantica Online (FF Tactics meets MMO world, VERY FUN)
-Shaiya (OK game, but has stupid difficulty system)
-Last Chaos (Kinda old school MMO)
-Rappelz (IP restricted game, grindy, but artwork really shines here)
-SUN Online (Once again, grindy game, but artwork shines!)
-Gunz Online (DMC meets Matrix online)
-Cabal Online (Key smashing game, fun and all for a while)

As for what game I personally like...Fallout 3 and DOW 2...

I have never heard of these....
I liked Sword of the new world for a little while.. but then I got bored.
Out of free MMO, it was my fave.
I liked it more than WOW and GuildWARS...

Phantasy Star Online was fun to play for me. Guild wars too.

I really loved Phantasy Star Online, something about it just clicked for me.

And the non auto-attack part of it was good too. But it's not really an MMORPG so when you really think about it, it's like a lot of Online Multiplayer games just with more customization options and a lobby.
