I still play SF3 on ps2 and have to say it is the best 2d fighter for me, I just hope SF IV plays good as if not better than 3rd strike :) Trailer was cool, can't wait to see the actual game play.

Love the art style on the trailer. I just hope the game is 2D, or 3D but viewed from the side fixed camera type of thing (aka 3D which looks 2D).

The trailer is quite cool, and overall, i hope there is more specials for Ryu and Ken XDD

That Ryu Model looks like shit from the waist up. Except his forarms/hands. Highly let down, but they have tons of time to fix him. There really is no excuse to not have him looking perfect, they have tons and tons of amazing concept art to pull off of.

Kick ass man. I was actually listening to a pod cast earlier today that said the 8 world warriors or whatever (SF2 characters) would be in it or "making an appearance" which I think kicks ass. I'll probably only be using Ken anyhow, but it'd be nice to have a lot of characters I'm familiar with. I loved Third Strike, but i could never get into some of the guys and just always resorted to Ken, Ryu or Akuma :P

Not so sure about this SF4... i know they said the game is entirely 2D in gameplay, but i'm not so sure, i guess i need to play it.

I'm pretty stoked for SF2 HD, however, that's gonna be great!

It looks good, but one thing that has kind of bugged me is how when the graphics improve on fighting game that the main characters seems to get bulkier. The same thing happend with Tekken after the while I think too. I prefer to slimmer more martial arts built Ryu and Ken rather than the body builder looking versions.

A lot of gaming sites are royally slagging the style.
(I think most of the general public wanted something resembling Fight Night type realism).

I really like how they've managed to incorperate most of the Street Fighter 2 characters, and not abandon a bulk of them like they did in 3 (With the exception of Chun Li, Ken, and Ryu). Although I did like a few of the Final Fight appearances, some of them were pretty silly (Hugo, Sodom, Rolento), and I could have done without the tie-in with Dark Stalkers.

That said, I hope to see more characters from 3, and Alpha 2 (Which had a few characters revisited from SF1).

I'm on the fence with regards to this game so far.

I mean, trying to get 3D to match the subtle complexities of hand drawn 2D is so incredibly hard. Facial animation alone can bring a CG artist to his knees, begging the ghost of Walt Disney for a miracle. Capcom's good, but they aren't THAT good. :) The game may end up looking a bit like animated, fighting ombies.

On the other hand, the one thing Capcom IS good at is producing tight fighting controls, albeit familiar ones. They rarely ever disappoint in that regard (except for Street Fighter 2010).

This could go one of three ways.

It could breath new life into a franchise, hard to see as being 100% true since (iirc) its a side story instead of a logical next chapter.

It could go totally unnoticed by fight fans, also hard to see since fighting games aren't as plentiful in 2008.

It could get recognized as a bomb along the lines of Street Fighter 3D. Not as hard to see, but with a relative drought of great fighters out there it could actually succeed.

I could go either way at this point. Its that facial animation that's just not working for me.

cookepuss - sorry missed your post, I thinkt hats what SnK realised with KoF and are going back to 2.5d which was awsome to begin with, yea only games that were ever really decent as 3d fighters was rivel schools 1, soul calibre and tekken, although only really the first in the 3d series ended up being anygood. Rest just really get ignore'd and feel re-hashed.

but as you say it can go 3 ways at the moment sf4 is looking pretty good, art direction wise anyways, will have to get a hands on before i can really comment on the gameplay.
