Hey all. I've been working as an environment artist for some years now and figured it was time to start giving something back (and pimp myself at the same time: win-win!)
Since I'm an environment artist by trade, it will be focused on that and hopefully I'll be able to post stuff about workflow etc. I'm also starting a new scene and will be detailing how I work my way through it, sharing links and other random stuff.
Suggestions and questions are more than welcome, I enjoy writing tutorials and shit so if you've got anything on your mind (it would be nice if it's at least tangentially related to environments and game art ;)) , feel free to shoot me a mail.

Added a post about Consistency and Efficiency (http://environment-artist.blogspot.com/2009/08/consistency-and-efficiency_23.html). Hopefully it will be somewhat helpful to people who have the same problem I do: start a lot of projects, don't finish even half of it...

Cool stuff man, I actually started a blog myself as a tutorial depot / pimpage and think it's a great idea...easy to update and not necessarily "top shelf" kind of things that would make it to your normal folio.

Had a quick gander and there's some good stuff on there I like. Might even have a play round with the scripts if I remember later on!
Also, I read the post about learning engines which I agree with. I should really know the basics but am wondering whether it's better to learn UE3 or Sandbox Crysis?
Maybe UE3 because it's used generally the most but it's slightly more higher learning curve?
Anyways good stuff in there mate.

Thanks, I'd say UE3 just because it's more widely used. It hasn't got that much of a learning curve though, it's pretty damn easy to get stuff imported into it and get cracking. Of course, doing a whole level WELL is another matter entirely :) Sandbox is a fantastic engine though and it's easy as hell to get things in there too but again, doing something well is a bit more work. I'd love to work with both to be honest, outdoor areas with sandbox and indoor areas with ue :D
