Editz, LLC. - Environment Artist

Job description and responsibilities:
Brief description:Point-and-click adventure game in the same vein of the Still-Life and Syberia games. These are commonly referred to as 2.5D games, pre-rendered 3D backgrounds with true 3D characters. There will be a limited number of cinematic sequences to help scene transitions and story flow. Here is a brief description of our latest project need:PAID Environment Artist WorkOne of the artist and I are headed to New Orleans, Louisiana this weekend to get photos for 2 locations to be used within the game. We need an environment artist to create 2 3D scenes from the images provided. Here is what we would need:* Pre-rendered version of the scene (complete with textures, bump-maps, lighting, etc...) in an image format to be discussed later.* Low-poly version of the same scene. The low-poly version of the scene is used for detecting depth (e.g. character walks "behind" an object as well as lighting, shadowing, and other uses). The low-poly version of the scene does not need to include textures. We can discuss file formats later, but I believe that OBJ file formats will work (for the low-poly scene). Please provide us with portfolio work and an estimation of the price of the job.To get an idea as to the caliber of artwork we are seeking, there are a wide array of scenes from the Still-Life game that can be found on the internet.Stefan Johansson's "Abandoned Warehouse" found here: http://www.sfjohansson.com/ is another great example of the type of work we are seeking.Target aim:Eventually retail. For now, the goal is to create a proof-of-concept/prototype. This finished product will be used to attract funding to complete the remainder of the project. If adequate funding cannot be obtained, the project will STILL continue and will be self funded.Compensation:Up-front pay (at time of asset delivery). No percentage of sales.Technology:Game to be deployed to PC (linux & Windows) using the Ogre3D rendering engine and home-grown game engine. C++ will be the programming language. We currently have an artist using Blender for environments; however, any 3D package that has an Ogre3D exporter (3DS, Maya, etc...) can be used. We cannot pay for licenses to products. It is assumed that you have licenses to the products you intent to use.Talent needed:3D Environment ArtistTeam structure:I act as project manager and lead programmer. The goal is to get professional grade work from 3 artists. Right now, we have 2 artists - neither of which have the time to create 3D environments. This is where you come in.[i]Website:N/AContacts:Use the forums to contact me for now. AIM/MSN will be used if you are selected.Previous Work by Team:None. We are experienced professionals from other industries looking to try our skills at producing a game.Additional Info:Check back here later.Feedback:Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
