Hey to all,
I would like to know if you could antialias the viewport in 3DS Max, not the wireframes, but the complete shaded model and all.
Cheers to all and ciao.

not a 3ds max user but if you have nvidia videocard isnt the easiest way just go to the nvidia user control panel and there make your video card replace the applications options and select the 16x antialiasing? This is how i am solving this problem, Blender user.
Hope it helps, cheers!

What happens if you have a Laptop? I have a nVidia Go, maybe locked drivers?
The options aren't saving, and the AA isn't working...not even 2x or 16x...I'll try on Blender later on and see if it works for that.
Thanks for the advice BTW.

There's an issue with AA in the viewport with Max 2009 (not sure about previous versions) which is fixed is 2010. The viewport in 09 doesn't support AA. Even using the forced AA in the GFX card settings doesn't work. Not really sure why that is, probably just the way the program displays the image.

Hey, sorry about the long delay.
Anyhow, yeah, it seems so. I have Max 08 and still doesn't work. I'll be getting Max 10 from a buddy at work and see if it does indeed work.
But on a semi-related note: Is there a way to render the Max viewport with Real-Time shaders?

if the shader was built to be can be renderable, yes but people usually don't make real time shaders renderable because they are real time shaders.
If you want to get the maximum pixels of a print screen, turn your model sideways. If you have dual monitors, stretch the max window to the second monitor and get all the pixels you can for the printscreen.
Or, just use a shader that's renderable.

Does Max have a "Hardware Renderer" setting in it's render settings?
If it does, that's the one you need.
That kind of stuff is usually where you pick what renderer you want to use to render the scene with (ie. Brazil, Max Software, Mental Ray, VRay, etc...).
