Thought I'd try one of those sketch thread things, I hear they're pretty neat. :-)
I've had a fear of working with color ever since I was diagnosed with a color deficiency 4 years ago- which led to me working primarily in lines and grayscale. It's become a serious handicap at work, so I decided to try and do something about it. I figure this is as good a way as any to start. Gonna work with limited palettes first and work my way up.

OK, not speed paints - I got caught up in renderland, since I've discovered online color scheme generators. :) They've put the fun back into painting for me.

Thanks guys! Honestly I wouldn't know where to begin explaining how to use that color schemer thingy. Just start with a value sketch, paste the swatches from the color generator into the image, color pick and blend colors from it until it looks right.
Here's a couple more...I'm trying to deliberately compose colors into zones.

Dig'n the buccaneer man! I am a little curious, I don't mean to pry at all, but what colors do you have trouble with? Because having checked out the color picker tool, you seem to be fine-tuning far beyond what the tool offers. The skin shading on the joker/chick sketch and the way you are handling reflected color light in the knight's joust is really spot on. Whether you see it clearly or not, you seem to have a clear knowledge, and it's rockin!
