Hi guys!
Sorry I haven't been posting as much lately--things have been a bit hectic and I feel I've been neglecting my moderator duties...but, as an excuse, I can announce to you all that I'm newly engaged!
Long story short: I was going to propose to her with an awesome super surprising proposal situation, but my girlfriend caught on to the plan and called me out on it, so I said, half joking, "Well, fine, I give up, now it's your turn!"...well, she took me up on it, came up with a cool plan of her own and proposed to me earlier today!
Just thought I'd share the news with my fellow GA'ers!
-joe
Also, to any UK'ers, I'm gonna be in London next week for a vacation--anyone down for a pub meet up?

Congrats blankslatejoe!
Hmm.. Did you try to measure her ring finger while she was sleeping? Or pilfer from the jewlrey box so you could take a ring to the jewler's for sizing and she caught you?

Thanks everyone -- for those that want the details of her plan and my own ill-fated one:
I was planning on proposing through Dinosaur Comics, an online comic that my girlfriend loves and reads every day. The creator of the comic really seemed keen on the idea when I asked him, and we were sorting through the details ...but I left an email up on my screen when I shouldn't have and my GF saw a few hours later. So I had to have an interesting discussion with her and then go off and think up a new plan.
Meanwhile, so did she, so we then had what essentially breaks down to a proposal idea arms race going on. I really had no ideas short of changing my voicemail to something sweet and having her call. She had a pretty good idea though.
Over the last few years we've developed a game where we'll go into a used book store and each pick a random trashy romance novel. We flip to a random sentence and whoever's sentence is more scandalous is the winner. Well, we were in a bookstore on sunday and she suggested we play a round. I didn't know she'd 'spiked' the bookracks with a book called "Wedding Story" with her name taped over the original author's. I proceeded to pick the book, and flipped open to a bookmark she'd placed inside with the words 'will you marry me?' on them. It was quite the surprise!
grimdc - I actually did pinch one of her rings in order to get it sized, and she never caught on there... I was in the process of getting a ring while I thought about a new plan...
cooke - har.har.
Thanks again guys!
