It had to be done sooner or later... I wish I did it sooner but it's about time for me to start showcasing it for I am again looking for employment. The resume is heading out to the four corners of the globe and I don't feel as tied down as I had been. My wife and I are looking forward to this next little adventure. :thumb:

I'll be updating it with new pieces in the coming weeks as well as refining how the site works.

My banner rotates.... but because I only have one image in that folder right now... it doesn't. I haven't got to it yet. There are a few things I haven't got to, for example the images are large enough to view in a bit more detail. I'll be adding a link in the lightbox to view the image larger as well. There's some back end stuff that will help me manage the site a bit better but it's a functional beta and that's good enough for the next couple of weeks.

Let me know what you guys think :lucky:

I like it man. Pretty simple and slick design that's to the point.

Only thing is, you only have 1 shot of each item. You definitely need more than 1 for each. At the very least a construction shot showing the textures and the low-poly and whatnot.

I agree with BigJohn, looks really nice and clean and it's easy to get to the art but you can't see enough of it.

The vehicles particularly, they're good shots but the wireframes are so small you can't even squint to make out the details. Larger shots or more shots would help -- maybe rather than opening a single-image gallery, each link would open another page or a sub-gallery?

Looking good, Andrew! I agree with John about seeing more shots of each.

Also, in the job section of your resume, the projects you list that you worked on sound like a bowl of alphabet soup: "CADTS 2007-2008, FCSMDT, JFETS." Is a potential employer supposed to know what those mean? You might want to expand a bit more on those, especially as it seems like the most relevant experience on your resume.

Good luck! :thumb:

Thanks guys.

I have some ideas to address the texture sheets/construction shot images. I'll see what I can do there.

I'll get the "view larger" button working and hopefully that might relieve the construction shot concerns but I understand you guys would want to see the textures (I thought about it but I've just been concerned with it going up). I'm trying to determine how obtrusive the "view larger" will be... I guess I'll figure that out when I get there.

Alphabet soup... that's awesome! They're all military acronyms for training simulators.... lets see if I can remember what they stand for right off the top of my head. CAD-TS... Cognitive Air Defense Training System... there's a sub acronym for that... which was the ECS and ECS2 or the Engagement Control Station Simulator... FCS-MDT was a Bowing project that stood for Future Combat Systems Mobile Demonstration Trailer. Finally, JFETS is the Joint Fires & Effects Trainer System which is a huge training project but I should mention that the part I worked on was the CASM.... or Close Air Support Module.

I guess I've been so use to just saying the acronyms it didn't feel like a whole lot to just spew the project names out. Anyway, I see your point and will make the adjustment!

Again, thank you for your comments and criticisms. Any more is greatly appreciated. :thumb:

ahh got to love military acronyms..

nice site btw, it's clean, simple and looks good. I would agree with having more images of each piece but thats all i can think of..

Awesome site, its very clean and well organized. Maybe you could have more pictures of each, and maybe a higher resolution one, the wireframes seem real awesome, but there not that clear. But all around I have to say its a great design. Simple but really class looking, and really eye catching. Congrats on the new site.

I just updated the site with the resume changes and I enabled a link in the description bar to open up the image in another browser window. Let me know how this works for you.

I'm still trying to decide how to approach displaying the texture maps.

Banner now rotates when you change the page or refresh. It's random... I'm gonna have to get more images up there so it rotates more frequently. At any rate you should see the change right away.

Next step is to get a page up there that shows my process, i.e. high poly, wireframes and texture.

I added a texture section but I'm not entirely happy with how this flows right now. I'm working on isolating the textures with the assets that they belong to but it's going to take a bit more planing.

I have updated my site to reflect the new changes :)

again, thank you to everyone who has been taking a peak at my work.

Great looking site, Andrew!
Very tidy and clean lay-out.

But indeed, you should put the texture sheets where they belong, next to their respective asset...
When I personally see a character/prop/whatever, I want to see the textures as well, but not if I have to bother looking for them. :)
And it helps especially with the style of thumbnails you're using. Most textures are clear what asset they belong too, but the last two for instance; I had no idea at the first glance if I can be honest.

Thanks Maph and Titova

I modified the view so that everything loads in groups. It will also load in a group of the asset is related to a specific scene. i.e. the bed and little nemo will now be accessible in the lightbox view.

On the todo list:

I will need to upload views that are larger so people won't have to click on the click to make larger link in the description of the lightbox window because this seems to be a roadblock and a problem with continuity.

the above bullet point also involves me having to upload larger versions of the wireframes.

I still need to finish the process page where I demonstrate my workflow.

Thanks for the crits guys. Your time is helping me make my site better and I really appreciate it :)
