Just curious on how many people who make these wonderful 3D works of art also do web design related stuff. I don't mean you know some PHP or HTML -- but more photoshop DESIGN guys that can make beautiful web 2.0 layouts and the such. I'll say right now I'm not scouting talent or anything, I'm just curious how many people out of the general population of 3D artists also have a hand at genuine photoshop web design creation.

I really enjoy making things elegant, and web design fits in very well with this pursuit. I don't know how long I've spent over my 11 (and counting) total site overhaul iterations, but every time I've done it, I feel like I'm refining it a little more.
In terms of composition, I think web design teaches a lot. I also think that naturally, artists with excellent composition will excel in web work.

Perhaps it a pavlov-esq condition, but the phrase "web 2.0" casts a hot topic sort of light on web design. Eg. 45 degree lines phase, paint splatter, drop shadow, itunes glass, and recently: rgb offset phase.
I can't say I'm impressed by something which pops up just because its the 'in thing'.

I can design a site in photoshop but that's purely for comps... fireworks as well but it's more clean and easier for me to go in and just code it in dreamweaver or something along those lines since most of the stuff I've been doing webdesign wise requires databases. I find that photoshop really makes a mess of the code, that's why I don't do it there.

I have done professional freelance webdesign in the past. I have been doing web and design work for longer than I have been doing 3d. It was very easy to pick up photoshop and html/css in high school and mess around with them constantly until I got good at it. I wanted to do graphic and web design as a career too... but only because I never thought I could get into 3d. :p

I still enjoy doing that stuff as a hobby, but I don't like doing it for commission, dealing with clients is a pain.
