Hey guys, im trying to model the front of subway train like this

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d6/Subway_train_125th.jpg

Im having an extremely difficult time modeling the front top where it bend into almost 1 1/4 sphere. I already have the main car body done so i started with that shape and tried using the bend modified but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks

Here is where i get too then i just cant think of a way to make it work well

It would be hard to demonstrate, but firstly, it looks as though the sides of the train run straight down, so I don't know how your end cap fits on in the first place... from the ref pic it doesn't seem the train has a bend anywhere in the side, so just a suggestion...

As for the transition from the sides/top to the center, I would use some kind of bevel with extra loops in it to give it more roundness, then just manipulate the vertices uniformally until it looks right, or use a lattice if that doesn't work. I'm sure someone like Lamont could be more understandable with something like this, since he's like a mad scientist. lol Good luck.

the one in reference was best front on shot i could find, the one im modeling off off had angled sides like i modeled but the pic didnt show the front too well, plus i figured it would add something interesting then a flat side. TO get the front piece i just took the plan from the endcap and make a new object so it matches perfectly, i just dont know how to start modeling in the top. Hopefully Lamont can chime in :-)

Well, it's just a personal opinion, but I havn't seen to many trains with angles sides like that, unless it was like a bullet train or something, but that's just a personal judgement and you can design it however you wish...

Like I said about the front though, if you can experiment with bevels I'm sure you could pull it off. I mentioned Lamont because he likes to write tuts, and I'm too busy to do so.
