Well... I'm not really good at this sort of thing...
I'm an artist, not a reporter...
This might be old news to some of you... but I just learned about this, and it scares me.
Here it goes...
Apparently there is this big company called Monsanto.
They make Genetically engineered plants.
They own a patent on the seeds that the plants produce.
If you are a farmer and you plant Monsanto's seeds, you are not allowed to save seeds at harvest time and replant them.
Monsanto's plant's pollen is carried to normal plants and gives birth to seeds with the patented gene that Monsanto created. Now, there is a good chance that you can be sued.
It seem like if the Monsanto gene contaminates all the plants, Monsanto can say they own all plant life in the world eventually.
Monsanto has bought out a lot of seed companies and is pushing it's product on farmers.
I feel very nervous. =(
Even the non GMO corn from Central America (birthplace of sooo many types of corn) is becoming contaminated with the Monsanto gene.
Please make your own research and come to your own conclusions.
Also if you have some more info on this, I'd love to hear about it!
