View Full Version : flash and payless job offers

These are my two little suggestions; since there's a lot of flash video games out there on internet, maybe flash should be added in the list of programs someone can add to his knowned program list?
And my second suggestion would be to make a rule against payless job offers, simply because writting 'no pay' next to 'looking for experienced animator for a video game that will be sold' is an insult to intelligence. I know it's not like they will get any response, but I don't know...it just feels wrong lol
so yeah, that was my two cents, i know I'm new here and I hope I didn't brought up issues that had already been debated in the past...oh...and I'm still trying to figure out how to access your own gallery to see what you posted in it. I know this sounds stupid but if anyone could point me in the right direction?

Good suggestions!
I'm new here too, so don't quote me on this.
I think just the pro's get their work in a gallery.. or you gotta ask FredH or Blankslatejoe.. They the bosses around here as far as I know.

ah! so that's how it worked, the fact I could activate my gallery anyways kinda got me confused about it. I'll practice some more then and once I have something solid, I'll ask them then :)
The personal gallery in Gameartisans can be acquired by winning in major contests/minor contests. Not sure but I think you need 1 artisan score before getting a gallery yourself :)
I think Dominance War also counts for it, considering it was the first contest 'here' :D

I need to win a contest? wow... I better get working right now. The artists displayed here are so talented! But then again, what a chalenge! :) I like it.
Do we still get access to the WIP forums and such to get feedbacks and tips on how to improve?

Of course! :)
You can post your wips at will and you will most likely get some usefull crits and comments from the talented artisans that infest these forums.
Yeah, you can access all the forums here still :) Just that you won't get nice GameArtisans gallery for yourself ^^

I'm not worryed about the gallery, I'll just seduce the mods and admins with some rocket candies... what are left over candies for if it isn't for bribing?
oh, I saw the competions (there's a naruto one going on right now?) but from the looks of it, it must be a big competition, where can I find the mini comps? I should start off there shouldn't I?
Just wait a few days :) The naruto comp has ended and is waiting for the new 'main comp' to start, the mini challenge ended just few days ago and we'll probably get a new one in couple of days :)

Oh my, It looks like I will have to put a permanent something on GA that explains galleries. Anyone can have a gallery by activating theirs here (http://www.gameartisans.org/gamecon/artist/activate.htm)
In the beginning, yes, only people who finished comps could have a gallery, but now anyone can have one. It's true that you will not have any competitions shown in you personal galleries if you don't enter any, but you can still upload as much personal art as you would like and anyone with a gallery can showcase their work in the showcase forums.
Thanks for letting me know about this mixed message. I will try to clarify it somehow in the near future:think:

Yes, mini challenges are much easier then main ones. The polycount is limited to 650 tops, and the testure sheet is limited to 512. For the concept category, you only need to hand in a sketch.
For main 3d comps, you need to hand in 5 images, and the polycount and texture sheet budgets are significantly higher. For main concept art comps, you need to hand in 3 images and one of them must be a polished illustration.
If you are new (welcome to GA:) ), mini comps are the way to go to get your feet wet:)
