Here are a few things that have been simmering on my HD for a while and thought I might share :D
A little cheesey story time...
As humanity prepared itself for the inevitability of a full on nuclear war something happened to reset the priorities. The ecosystem of the entire planet collapsed into a severe sub-arctic state and became mostly uninhabitable. Storm systems were transformed into icy disasters, hurricanes, tornadoes, and even simple rainstorms became life threatening catastrophes. Many governments crumbled as the toll of casualties continued to rise and scientist rushed to discover the cause of the world’s sudden decline.
As the storms worsened and destruction escalated to irreparable levels, the cause was finally discovered. Several years of testing on top of decades of older detonations led to a strong build up of radioactive particles in the atmosphere. The particles finally became thick enough to form an invisible shield around the planet. This shield became a filter for ultra violet light, thus preventing the sun’s heat from reaching the surface. Humans were pushed into underground shelters for the next twenty years.
As the harshest part of the new ice age subsided and the planet regained some infinitesimal ability to support life humans reemerged. Rations and foodstuffs were scarce and to ensure equality and fairness a committee was formed to look over the survivors.
Years passed and the committee gained power and became the Delegations for Human Existence. As the DHE grew in power it took greater control of lives of its citizens, it began to lessen the amount of rations available per individual.
This sparked the beginning of a civil war between the DHE and a large number of resistance movements across the land.
