singing songs or speaking lyrics

if you hear someone singing a song and they don't sing the lyrics right do you correct them? I'm of two minds of this... if they're butchering a song and having a great time singing it do you interrupt them and tell them they are singing the wrong words or do you just let them be happy?

I've done both... it tends to ruin moods but at the same time you may feel very strongly about the song... OR the song is so well known that you may feel the song should not be altered.

If other people hear the words and they don't respond a. because they don't know the words either or b. they don't want to ruin the moment for the person singing.... do you mention it then or let it go?

Just a thought.

I correct them. It's all in how you do it. You can correct without looking like a douche. Smile. Laugh. Mock. Laugh again. In the end, you can actually get them to laugh hard at themselves, which makes them happy, and get them to look like an idiot, which makes you happy. Win-Win. :)

Me? I don't bother to sing anything I don't already know the words and can hit the notes to. Thankfully, I know a lot of songs. :p

haha what a strange topic. i generally correct people who sing wrong song lyrics. that, or point out they made a mistake, and subsequently mock them for doing so

i just ask, hey do you know who sings this song? really then lets keep it that way. or I didn't know they were looking for a new lead singer. so on and so forth, a bit rude I know, but fun to do when the other person laughs with you

I tend to let it slide. unless the person is tone deaf. then i'm like - hey, hey you... stfu.
