Left 4 Dead is ruining my life =(

I just bought Left 4 dead 2 on friday, and i've already stayed up playing till 6am the last 2 nights...

I totally understand your pain, Cenelder. Although I'm old enough to know I need sleep, and to go to bed at least 1-2 am. But when I wake up, I just wanna get back on it, and play some more. Productivity for me has dropped significantly since I got L4D 2. I am ashamed.

I gotta say, there's a couple things about L4D 2 that drive me nuts. One, you have to cock your gun every time you switch back to it. That's a valuable second you could need to shoot a boomer before he gets too close to shoot. Or get that smoker before he ties you up completely. That's a really bad call on valves part, and I hope they patch it.

The other thing that is annoying me, but I haven't heard anyone else complain about, is that sometimes, normally at the beginning of a horde rush, or when a special infected is about to attack, the game allows my mouse to jump to my second monitor, and click so my game is minimized, but continues. So I have to maximize it, hit ESC so it pauses when it finally loads back up, and I've been taking damage the whole time. It sucks, and I hate it. I REALLY hope there's a fix for that. Anyone else have that problem?

Played it through on Advanced Realism when I got it.
Loved it.
Played it through on Expert Realism with a friend, loved it.

Now I'm bored with it. =/
The tank has been nerfed, even on Expert.

I mean, when the tank comes, You're supposed to die.
But now when the tank comes, everyone just yawns, kill it and move on.

Have to say I actually liked L4D better than the second.
It was just more difficult and the maps were better.

But all in all, both games were too easy, even on expert.
When playing with friends, It was a joke :(

I guess I have to admit that when playing with the "Leroy" type, the game got hard. (Also more fun, specially when you were the one Going Leroy~)

Like the other one it's only good when playing with friends. I cant be arsed with internet assholes... who just act like dicks all the time. The industrys push towards online mainly is worrying for me as I hate playing online with people I dont know... MW2 is a joke for me because I can never get in games with friends (IW net sucks for PC it's such a great engine wasted by ridiculous restrictions cause they just ported the 360 multiplayer)

But when I found out it was online only, I was crushed.

We've got 18+ films and we've tried to get 18+ videogames but there's one attorney general in the state of South Australia who is blocking it (and we need a 100% agreement for it to go through!) We can try to vote in another party to the electorate he's in, but it's a safe seat and they've been in power since 1981.

:P got this a few days ago and yeah... it may sound kindof childish and strange (to anyone who isn't a gamer i guess) but the cut backs they did to our version really ruin it... We've got zombies dissappearing before even hitting the ground... no blood (at all...) and not even a hint of dismemberment. They completley took out the whole breaking bodyparts and cool physics stuff. Really takes away from a zombie game imo :(


also hatin multiplayer. I usually just play lan or with friends (when not playing single player that is, i still really like good sp based games)

I play it every day for a few hours with a bunch of friends I am in a "clan" with. There's always nightly games and we are all pretty skilled. I am glad to be able to have them to always play with. Anyway, I've been loving this game and had a lot of time to play it during a slight break in my contract. My steamID is "Frump" (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197972525957), if you want to have a game.

The game is meant to be played VS and with friends. That's all there is to it. You definitely don't get as much out of it otherwise. VS is the only reason I ever kept playing L4D1 and still play L4D2. If I could only play survivor I would just go back to TF2 to shoot guns. It's the uniqueness of control and strategy with the infected that makes vs so great. You have to know the map a lot better (where to spawn, where to attack) and make use of the terrain. You have to know how to play each one, what order to use them and how to capitalize on different situations. No other first person games let you be monsters and kill people. Vs is a great mix of skill, strategy and teamwork that comes together wonderfully if you have a good team.

Basically, if you find you are getting bored with the game or feel like you have done enough, try to find a team of people you work well with and start playing vs modes. With vs matchmaking you can take your 4 person team and start playing other teams of 4 online. If you don't like straight up vs do scavenge which is amazingly fun and improves the survivor experience by adding a new level of strategy for them as well as the infected. You get all of the tension and competition of full vs games but in a shorter time. I've found scavenge to be a lot more fun than vs.

Love the game versus. Although I've stopped caring about the results/scores. Like today I actually let the survivors get up when I was a charger so I'd still be infected. (we had 3 down and the 4th on red, and I could have charged him but I let him get them up so we could kill them in more evil ways :P )

Haha definitely. I always just prefer to play the game than to win or lose, but I have a lot of friends who obsess over it. And the lobby thing... I used to not even bother trying to join our games because so many people would be fighting for the spots. I would end up shutting down everything I'm doing, starting the game and then not getting to play. That was frustrating. Hasn't happened since L4D2 came out because some people are still slow to get it.

I swear with all the random connection things and auto loading, some day my mom is going to get a cell phone, some day, and she will get some pop up that says "your son is on Sprint Family" and that will auto load me in, but sprint family will be connected to MSN cause of some merger, and since MSN is run by M$ that will load into my 360, which will go to Facebook.. Facebook will attach to some obscure Myspace of mine and through all this it will connect with my friends and so on.

Short of the story is a picture of me tagged in a photo with a friend of mine, piss drunk doing something illegal is going to pop up on my moms cell phone with my god damn "gamer score" below it.

I decided to play the XBLA disc that came with my Arcade version of 360, on thanksgiving. It had Uno on it, and my niece was bored (a bored 13 year old girl, what a shocker!!), and we couldn't play against each other, so online we go. I figured, it's Uno, there's not gonna be hardcore gamer kids flipping out, and calling people all kinds of names. Boy was I wrong. We were berated by some 10 year old kid for hitting him with the "draw 4" Wild card, I was called all kinds of names by someone named "xJuggaloXXx" and the whole experience was pretty eye opening to a guy who never plays online.

I'll play L4D 2 with my friends for sure. They understand that if you walk in front of someone shooting a gun, you're gonna get shot. No rage quitting, no blind voting to kick someone, and no endless streams of cursing at a person on the team for accidentally killing a boomer a tad too close.

Still chuckling about that post, rv_el, that was a good one.

I haven't had that problem at all with my 2 monitor setup. Try launching the game on your other monitor and see if it ever happens. Maybe it's a primary/secondary monitor thing. Also, try prying your "windows" key off your keyboard while you play. I found that hordes and special infected caused me to accidentally hit it quite often, which might mimic the behavior you're seeing.

The gun cock every time you switch is stupid though.

O_O Uno! There were kids named Juggalo talking trash in... UNO! LOL! Thats hilarious! I would have thought it was safe as well. I havent played for a long time, but i used to play ISketch (online pictionary) at times, and you get some characters in there! Some are hilarious, but some just try to ruin the game... but something like Uno on a console. Wow.

I was on a server yesterday and I taught people how to juggle and move items across the world for the Survival modes.

If you have the grenade launcher you can pick up another weapon and keep tapping E and walk it to the location where you are gonna camp at. I was in that small room in the factory level, stocked with all the health and multiple weapons. I got 8 minutes 40 seconds by myself with AI partners who died around 6 minutes in.

You can do this with pills/med kits. You pick up a defib and when you pick up the health the defib goes out the back, just walk backwards to where you want to take it. Same for pills/shots.

I am sure this will be patched if it gets big. Can only do the juggle with the launcher.
