how much to charge for modeled character?

Someone wants to buy an original character ive modeled to use in promotional advertising etc and I was wondering how much should I charge?

If it's to outright buy, then I'd charge more, if it's to lic to use then it wouldn't be as much. As for the actual price: how much would you charge someone to make it from scratch? I don't think anyone will really give you a solid answer... I'm just giving ideas.

Barter with them!!!! Try looking on turbosquid for a model that looks similar, and then charge 50-100 bucks more since its exactly what they want.

Hmmm.... hope you don't mind if I butt into this thread. I'm just curious what if anyone of you were to be offered by someone that they would buy your character model assuming of course that this is an original concept not any comic book character or that sort of thing. And he tells you that he is planning on 3D Printing your character and selling this as a product lets say he makes it into a statuette. This of course requires you to give him your working file and the rights of your created concept. You will of course be credited for your work. Will any of you be willing?

yep, if a guy is going to take my hardwork and sell it himself, then it's going to cost him. It's one thing to use an image of my stuff, but to sell it, that's taking it to a whole nother level.

Talk with Mr Marcus, the mod on the forum, he sells models like hookers give great conversation(they make you smarter). He can tell what the going price for a model is and how much of a difference there is betwix selling the rights and selling the image.

I have never ran into this problem, pretty much just because Im not good enough yet haha. But If I was approached I would figure out what you would do hourly, then try and remember how long it took you. Thats what I would do.
