hey just a little heads up, in the US as of the 6th of this month gears of war will be released for the PC, but the best part is that the new up to date unreal 3 editor will be released with it.

so screw roboblitz and welcome home a editor that when u test u can jump in with your gears guy haha. thats what i hope anyways. just thought i would express my excitement.

Exciting stuff. Looking forward to playing with it. I've already put my money down on a preorder, but we seem to get it on the 9th here in Europe. Still, going to make sure I can play with the editor regardless.

Ok, so I gather that the lines where crossed... I looked up Unreal 2007 Collectors Ed, and it comes in a tin case, comes with the Ed, and the DVD that Tiax spoke about! So, if you want all the other goodies you gotta wait till mid Nov. Thanks for the heads up thou, cause I almost ran out the door to pick up GOW. Thanks!

very good point. in a video i watched of cliffy talking about it he said u can use there stuff that they used asset wise in gears,, which makes me think that u should be able to look at the shader and texture structure of there work. that alone will make me buy haha. also unreal will to. :)

Bought Gears because i wanted the better visuals (running at 1920x1200), the extra content, and the editor. Still, the main piece will come in the UT3 CE with all the vids and the fully blown editor thingy (in the Gears editor you can only do multiplayer maps and stuff due to MS legal issues).

yes, you'll be able to check out all the textures, shaders, static meshes, animations, etc, etc, etc, similar to the previously released games using the Unreal Engine from Epic :)

Just pop open the Generic Browser and dig away :)

Ok I got this game... Though I can't make a profile (pressing "F1" or "home" doesn't help) thus I cant save any progress nor can I play online.
Allot of people seem to have this problem(official forums), so it seems like way to early release.

I have like zero experience with UnrealED and the only real reason I got this game was because of the UED.

So 2 questions :)
Anybody else here got this problem, and someone how fixed it?

And anybody here know tutorials related to UED?

This probably ought to go in the help/tutes section but here's a short list of good tutorials for the old and the new UED:

http://www.hourences.com/book/tutorialsindex.htm -- Old and new
http://www.roboblitz.com/RoboBlitzEditorWiki/ -- Roboblitz specific but a good place to start to learn differences between the old and the new versions
http://www.3dbuzz.com/ -- Video tutorials for the last editor and sometimes videos for the new editor but don't get your hopes up: most videos are only up for a month then taken down and put on CD.

By the way, did you get the collector's edition? I hear that it comes with loads of video tutorials that explain the editor.

Thanx, i couldnt find a collectors edition.

And you sorry for posting this here.

Wait, Gears PC doesn't have a collector's ed. MBT is referring to the UT3 collector's edition.

And yes, you can view the entire model structure and shader setup and all that. I've been browsing on the Gears Editor and it's been informative.

Same here. There's some good vids on there, but I also highly recommend this guy's video tutorials (http://www.veoh.com/series/HouseofUnreal). Really good stuff. Not the same production value of Buzz of course, but still very good.

no no unreal 3 has been delayed here in Aus until the 5 of December, it was meant to be the 30 November which was bad enough:mad:

Oh and thanks East for the link.

Where are the Maya plugins?

It just kills me how many good games and game related things are out lately. I'm still working on Super Mario Galaxy and FFXII DS. Can't even think of playing with mods or editors until I make my way through that stuff. I've still got lots of stuff shrink wrapped too. Oh, if only somebody would invent the 36 hour day. :)

Lamont :: Does Maya export to ASE (ASCII Scene Export) ? That's basically all you'll need to import staticmeshes in UE3... As for characters, I think ActorX is still used, but I haven't been able to find it... supposedly it was/is on UDN, but I haven't tried looking that hard yet for it.:paper:

Masakari

Here's ActorX, it's from UE2, but works with UE3 as well: http://udn.epicgames.com/Two/ActorX.html

You can also import COLLADA meshes and animations.
