Hey guys, i got a small problem here.

I made a long long time ago an animation for my dad's business and now he wants me to reuse that Animation now again.
The problem is, the Animation won't play anymore. Back then i was able to play it probably because i had the codec for it, now i dont.

I bet a few would answer now: just download the right codec!
Nah its not that easy, THe animation has to be playable for everyperson who visits this site. If someone who has only standart codec's would visit this site, he wouldnt be able to play this animation, as i can't make him download the codec first and then play the short animation.

I need something to decode and recode this Animation into a file wich is playable for every normal user.
I personaly thought about Flash, but i wasnt able to Put this video even into Photobucket ,as on youtube it shouldnt be there. As i tried "main concept h 264 encoder" wich didnt recognized this file.

dramatic thing for me, i have to get this done within this week! :brick:

Anybody knows a programm wich could probably encode this file, it was back then recoreded as an AVI (divx or indeo codec) ? the file is not hurt or anything, just doesnt play.

Check out VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/). It's free and it should be able to decode your AVI and encode it back using a more common codec.

It can be a little clunky to use though. For what you want, open the video then go Video->Compression and change to a new codec, then just File->Save as AVI.

If you need to figure out exactly what codec it uses, I recommend GSpot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot/), which will tell you this. Just in case the original codec is needed in the conversion process.

You could try getting Combined Community Codec Pack, it has them all :)

Of if you're making a movie, do .mov packed with sorenson or xvid movie :)

haha thanks for the package suggestion, helped me alot now!

Thanks all, now i got what i needed :) found out the codec was 3iv2 , with the help of that program i dl'ed the codec again, downloaded the Combined community codec pack and with virtualdub i recompressed the movie into a Windowsmediaplayer 9 codec wich can be viewed by most normal windows user now!
As the movie is much smaller now! yey!

thanks!
