So I got Dante's Inferno today, and I love the art. Hell's never felt this huge, and disturbing before in a game. But the quicktime events are totally killing it for me. I've beat god of war 1 & 2, and Clive Barker's Jericho, and a couple of others that have QTE's, but this is ridiculous.

I've been waiting for this game since it was announced, and all there was to see was that floating bit of cloth, and a slogan. I've been super pumped to play it for a long time, so I bought it new today. I just got done fighting the same boss for about 15-20 minutes, cause of the QTE's.

It's the snake boss guy I'm stuck at, cause he's always hitting me with his tongue, which restarts the attacks, till you get it right, dodge the tongue, and attack him again. It's annoying to say the least

If you've beaten Dante's Inferno, are all the bosses this much of a pain? Are the QTE's just as prevalent throughout the game?

I brought Dantes Inferno, Bayonetta and Darksiders the other day, and i started dantes because i thought it would be the worst of the 3. I was pleasantly surprised.

I'm near the end and I havent had any problem with this game so far and I've even had a couple of special movie like moments that ive had with no other game to date:

I was fighting a certain boss and both of us were wailing on each other close quaters style, then i broke away and at the same time, he broke away and we both went straight into charging up our holy cross attacks, 2 beacons of light on the screen about to unleash our powers, White versus Yellow on opposite sides of the screen, I was like.. holy crap this is sick!!!!!!! BUT MY POWER BETTER CHARGE FIRST!!! When I let go, he let go of his blast and we both went flying backwards - it could not have been choreographed any better.

Anuxi was watching and she was like.. HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AWESOME!! and I was like.. Did you see that ?!?! Holy shit!!! i almost lost the fight because after that set piece i kinda relived the moment over and over in my head for a few seconds.

Also, the artwork especially the environements are mind bogglingly awesome. Who could go past the erect penises, spread vaginas and flaming sphincters - walls made of orgies of people, or the creepy hands that come up out of the murky mud when your hanging a few feet above it, simply awesome!

Truly these guys havent held back on any level and I think it deserves some kind of art award.

Im not sure which boss your talking about actually, snake guy ? I didnt have any trouble so far??

The game looks like a carbon copy of God of War(playing style wise) with better art work to me. That's not bad at all, I LOVED God of War, and wish I had a PS3 for when the 3rd one comes out. I do really want to play Dantes Inferno though, the art work alone draws me to it.

Yeah, the artwork is beyond amazing. The background designs are really things I've been wanting to see in games, but never knew it. Like you said, Hazardous, there's so much going on in the backgrounds at any moment, you could almost stop and stare look at them for a while.

I played past that boss last night, cause I sooo wanna love this game, and had to give it a better chance. That boss, by the way, was the Judge of the Dead. I guess Darksiders kinda spoiled me, since they tossed the QTE's, in favor of the "B" button, which I think was a perfect move on their part. I still have a couple of issues with Dante's Inferno, but they're pretty small, especially when you take in the art.

Yeah, it's a carbon copy of God of War, which I loved, and wish I could play the 3rd one (no PS3). I think GoW made the environments seem a tad more "epic" in scale than Dante's Inferno, but I still like Dante's environments better. I am a fan of hell.

Oh, and Hazardous, I said on PC that I thought Blur did the cinematics for Dante's Inferno, but having seen a couple more of them, I think someone else did them. Haven't researched it at all, or I'd be able to tell you.

Anyway, I'm liking it a lot more now. Initial frustrations are gone, and I'm getting more used to the controls

I cant sing its praises high enough honestly, to see this game get a rating of 6.8 is like.. HUH ?!?! are you joking ?? I loved god of war 1 and 2 as well, but Dantes Inferno is way better than both of those games for me especially artistically.

I would say 8.5 out of 10, Enjoy this game for what it is! a hellish rampage through tyhe nine circles of hell killing stuff with a big scythe!

Wait, 6.8? Seriously? Man, it's a good thing I pay zero attention to game critics. If I did I'd own all the GTA's (which I can't stand), and viva pinata (which isn't even my age bracket). Game critics are borderline retarded, know-it-all's.

Anyway, yeah, it's not perfect but you're walking through hell killing damned souls, and demons. That alone is awesome. I really like how they didn't pull any punches when it comes to content. It's an M rated game for a reason, and not a pretentious "well the kids like the cursing and whores these days" approach that Rockstar takes with all it's games (I'm perfectly comfortable making that statement after the rockstar san diego debacle). It's REAL grown up, mature instead.

Whatever, this isn't my review, I just wanted to say pushed past the frustrations of the first time player, and I'm REALLY glad I did. It's worth it.

Way I see it, if you like GoW, you'll like Dante's Inferno. I personally don't think it's as tight or polished as GoW (nor is the story...as interesting to me personally), but it's a solid game indeed. Bayonetta, Dante's Inferno and soon GoW3, a good year for action game lovers! Thing is, I reckon reviewers will praise GoW3 for whatever they critisized Dante's Inferno for.

Still haven't beaten it yet, which speaks more to my need to get a new portfolio done, and awesome, than it does to my gamer skills. But I'm pretty far in it. I'm loving the later level designs. The architecture is so inspiring, and mesmerizing. I'm always seeing new things.

In fact, I've been inspired to make some background stuff that might fit in with the theme, and style. I'm actually having a lot of fun making these props, and background assets.

Will post my thoughts after I finish the game. I just know it'll have the happiest ending ever, with fairies, and puppies, and lot's of hand-holding. :)

Just beat it, awesome awesome! Also, look out for the biggest swinging / physics, hairy cock and balls in any game to date!!

AAA triple gold rating.

On a down side, I got annoyed with the 9 circles of treachery. ( arenas )

if the game was based more on the divine comedy then the game would be renamed Dante's a guide tore through hell with Beatrice leading the way

and on you left we have , and if you look to your right........

other than that the art style is great, shame that it disappears half way though and level imagination becomes repetitive.
overall though it's ok:p

Just beat it. That was one of the hardest bosses EVER!! I can't tell you how many times I died. At one point, I literally yelled "fuck this game!" and turned it off. :D But I couldn't stay away, and finally killed his evil ass. That ending... No spoilers, but it was good. I really liked it, and will definitely be playing through it again and again. I'm so glad I didn't let my frustration at the beginning get the better of me, and sell it like I thought I would.

And yeah, Hazardous, satan was packing, and swingin!! I didn't notice at first as I was too busy trying to stay alive, then "holy crap! That IS what I think it is..." But it wasn't there in the ending cinematic (which kicked a LOT of ass), which was weird, but I was happy with.
