Perhaps we could get a smaller competition going between Polycount and GA. No messing about with huge prizes or anything that'll take a lot of organisation or anything that'll give Fred and whoever else is working on the GA Montreal studio any more worries, just a throw down comp with the two forums battling for glory.

Yeah guys, I felt sad just writing that. Not being able to keep up the tradition of hosting DW...Feels like a big defeat:flag: Things just got too big to handle. A great deal of champions, shipping addresses, and judges + 10 forums, 5 languages and more:s I still love hosting all the competitions and will always try to make each one better than the next, but I just need a little time to get an office in place to support this massive competition structure.

acapulco - Yes, it's May 3rd. Reason, to complete UC takes 2 full weeks of my time. It's impossible to take attention away from GA Montreal as the Gallery (not lounge) is scheduled to open March 18th. After the gallery part is set up, 3 weeks later, I would then need to get the lounge aspect of the studio set up (computers, desks, furniture, training events, speakers, etc). There is no one else available right now to complete UC besides me, since I am the only one who can do html designs, programming, cordinate the judging and pay for prizes. This is why its important to get the office in place first, so a team can take care of things rather than a single person.

That is absolutely okay.
I would have loved you to give such type of comment about 1 month ago. Its okay saying you have no time, it takes that long to do it and fact! 100% better than not giving any comment at all and everyone is wondering for one month what is going on. I would recommend you for future problems to just take 2 minutes and write a short message why there is a delay, makes it much easier for people to wait for the results.

I guess I should be upset that DW5 is postponed, but I'm kinda not. The last 4 DomWars have kinda blended into one another too much. I'm hoping that this delay will allow Fred to give us something that's a bit more thematically & stylistically different.

I actually wouldn't mind if this empty time could be filled with some more "for fun" 3D mini comps. Something to keep the community interested & contributing.

Anyway, I'm not surprised to see some of this stuff getting reshuffled around. It's a lot of work. It's a tough global economy. Eventually, something's going to give. As long as GA comes out stronger for it, I'm okay with the changes and delays.

We could also go through Ritorians Dominance War V stuff thread and see what people wanted to improve about dominance war and take some of those fresh thoughts and build some cool guidelines from.

Dominance war is a great event like Olympic. Actually it is Olympic of Artists.

And like Olympic held in every 4 years Dominance war should be like this too.
But the thing is that Technology is changing very fast and because of the technology the workflow and working way is changing every year.

So Dominance war can't wait for 4 Years like Olympic but it can be held in EVERY 2 YEARS

It's just a suggestion from my side.
Actually they (game artisans community) can arrange some other competitions like comicon.

But Dominance war and Unearthly challenges should be held in every 2 Years.

I can't really say it's entirely bad news. I can totally understand the situation and I think people can take the benefit from this. Best of luck with GA Montreal, Fred. I know I can't wait to see that (plus that gives me another reason to visit Montreal again).

As far as making DW like Olympics, I don't really see the benefit of this. It's not like we're making an actual game and people can use any workflow that's convenient for them. For example Jian Guan's, I think he just started painting his character first and then making his normal map later on (I could be wrong though). I still don't know if he used ZBrush/Mudbox at all for his character. All I know his work looks stunning.

You can't "finish" till all 3 are done. Soft deadlines should help. If you want to have everyone in your timezone, it's up to you. But people have done this before with success and spread across the world.

best way to answer that, would be to go look at the past wars. Notice how each war is dealt with the same. Keeping that in mind, you will have an idea of how the next war will be.

Hey friends...I really got very sad tbm regarding DW do not open his portasl in 2010 and glad for do not yet have finish. It would like very that the modeling programs big size companies and producer could launch with their programs hints, videos tutorials and another so that we did not stay for tráz, does not have how to compete with a person who knows best tricks that were not still liberated or went few know, in this championship should have award for the owed normal classes, hight and carry to an extreme. Would not give for many compete with professional that already work on the area and many that take part are freelancers like me, it would be the same thing that suggest "that if vc knows and does not dominate does not take part" it has many that has wish of learning just to to for learn and has other that live of this...Good know-there am going to take part anyway...It only wanted to let clear that many that competed only competed...
