Hi all,
First post into this section ! :inocent:
It will look a bit boring for people who are from polycount, but I thought I could get a few more feedbacks on my current character.

I already got alot of great critz and i'm definitly planning to work a bit more on the sandals, the general specularity, tattoos, etc. Actual task : skinning :ack:

Anyways, here's the model (sorry for the large images...)

The high poly in mudbox.

The normal mapped model.

The last update on the texturing.

Really nice work man, the diffuse map for those hands is particularly awesome. I'd love to see you get a skin shader for the flesh areas, it's feeling a little dead without some SS fake. Great work though, can you show us the texture flats?

Super work on the texture! Really gorgeous... especially love that tattoo and the hands.

If I were to critique, I'd have to say I'm not really sure what to think of the ratio of human/animal. Since monkeys and humans are so similar, it might have been nice to highlight th differences in anatomy, rather than taking human bits and taking monkey bits and sort of smooshing them together.

I think it might look more believable if he had a more animalistic look to his posture (a thing to try after rigging, maybe?). Surely there would be other anatomical differences if this guy's species has retained the long arms, foot-thumbs, tail, and stuff. Like the narrow pelvis and squatting stance of a sometime-quadruped (this siamang here (http://www.pantsari.org/images/Zoo/Siamang_006a_8x7.jpg)is a good example).

Also the tail reminds me a lot more of a lion than a monkey. Monkeys tend to have substantial tails for balance if they're in trees a lot (like this squirrel monkey (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/1c/Common.squirrel.monkey.arp.jpg/773px-Common.squirrel.monkey.arp.jpg)), or something like this baboon's. (http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/1244/95002156.JPG) Not really sure what you had in mind for this guy?

I'm nit picking though :) It's very good. Obviously my crits aren't something you could do much about now, and maybe has more to do with my own personal preferences. At the moment, he reminds me a bit of Splinter from TMNT in his cartoony-ness. If that was what you were going for then consider it a job well done!

Awesome character:thumb: , the only thing i would of liked to see would be some chest hair ( not a lot) and maybe some hair growing up and around the belly button, but hey thats not really here or there.

keep up the good work:D

Have respected your work since day1.
LOve the model aswell as the textures :)

I definately agree with poop- some fake SSS would be awesome.
I also Agree with shadow about adding hair in all crazy places. I prefer the chest, and hands plus arm.
Mind showing a wireframe and also some close-ups? :P

On the pic with the diffuse applied, what is that rendered in? Btw this looks amazing.

Very nice work. Interesting character, and looks super clean. I look forward to seeing it polished off. What's the triangle count on this guy, if you don't mind?

Awesome model - I've been watching this at Polycount and I've got to say that every update on this guy leaves me drooling. It's super cool - one of my favourite models. Right click -> Save...Thankyou Guntharf!

This is pretty Bad ass Guntharf, I don't have much to add as far as crits since you've already received some terrific feedback as it is. You really turned out an amazing piece and I can't wait to see him when he's all rigged up and posed! Nice going!:D

I agree with the extra addition of hair. He needs a love trail. Also some more on his forearms. Tully really says the rest. Looking hella good, yo!!! Solid!!! Keep it up.

Very high quality stuff, nice one :) Like that sculpting style, too, the way the fat / muscles crease. If I were to nitpick, god help me, I might go along with some of Tully's commentary on how the overall monkey-ness might've been even cooler increased (some more monkey hair on the arms, things like that maybe), but hey, great work :)

sorry for the late reply guys, and thx for all the great critics here :) We're currently in crunch time @ work, but hopefully I'll be able to "finish" this guys next week.

ok, here's a pose test. I think that the monkey aspect is reading better now, but I'm still not sure hehe. Added some rush hairs to forearms too. Next step : background + last diffuse tweakings and done ! I need to do something else ;)

Great job! I think the eyes and the hands are very well done... maybe open up the eyes just a little more to make him more fierce-looking? Very inspirational :)
