woot finally i'm in :D
here's what i've got so far,still its not finished of course

Im going through various ideas,one is to make the helmet bigger so it could fall and cover his eyes sometimes and add some binoculars.
He's going to take out a huge bazooka from his small backpack and use it as a weapon.
Still,i haven't decided anything...

you already mentioned the helmet but perhaps pushing some of the other proportions would make him stand out even more. I would really design him around what he does a little more and get away from the standard child proportions. perhaps he could be super broad in the shoulders to support the bazooka or maybe narow up his hips and legs to make it seem so.
