OK!
This concept nails down most of the silhouette I wanted.
I'll likely make changes to clothing/accessories to make him look more interesting.
Larger shoes (toesies), a big belt+buckle, and maybe discard the collar shirt for a hockey jersey.
:D
I'll play around with it a bit.

i really like this kid and his helmet. i just think he needs more viking. i think itd be cool if he had a different prop. like an oversized shield or something. that he dragged about as he ran. and used as a projectile. im just not a fan of the balloon

i thought oversised round shield too immediately. i love the idea of a small kid with huge viking armor, or maybe a viking sword that he can barely weild :D would be great. i love the expression on his face and the fact that the helmet isn't straight on top of him... (how do you describe that in english :P)
well anyways, keep it up! i think this could become an amazing entry!

I give it a day before some git comes in here and whining that horned viking helms aren't realistic.
Its a cute concept, Joxx. I look forward to seeing where you take it from here.

lol yeh, it definately needs 'something'.
I'd rather not make him a full fledged viking, but a modern day kid who imagines he's a viking.
Not completely set on the balloon, but I am certain I don't want to give him any kind of a violent weapon (A little too unimaginative for Nintendo).
I'm thinking more in the realm of Mario, where a leaf mushroom or flower are used as power ups.

why not keep the balloon and add like a turkey leg in the other hand? make it feel like hes at a carnival trying to be tough but his kid side makes him keep the balloon

oOOooo that sounds cool.
I was thinking about an oversized Magical Monkey Wrench.
I really like the obscurity of a turkey leg though.

It'd be good to keep it sort of vaguely Nordic so that the kid can imagine he's a warrior. Giving him a saucepan lid shield and toy wooden sword would be the obvious approach, but for something a little less straight forward... I dunno. A teddy bear pelt cloak? An axe or spear made of found objects from the toy box or around the house?

I LOVE that idea! Saucepan shield.
If I ditch the balloon, I think I'm going to go with a pillow.

Dude... Teddy Bear pelt coat is a WICKED awesome idea.
I need to make the shoulder armour a more conventional toy or household object (maybe turtle shell toy, or football pads).
I'll likely add Some simple wristbands, for aesthetics (and to give the UVs a natural break).
Then onto fleshing out the helmet and prop.
When I do the orthos, I'll likely make the shoes, hands, head, and belt a larger.

xD Rocks!
Give the Balloon a greater and rounder size! = Win!

Dude if you can capture the concept likeness in 3d then you’ll have a solid contender:lucky:! What are your plans for a color scheme?

very nice
Im just hoping you dont go too "cartoony" (the bland kind) with the colour scheme :D

I'd love to give him a colour scheme that could fit into the Windwaker/Phantom Hourglass world.
I'll do some colour tests tonight. Start Modelling at weeks end.

ACK! Lack of time, and too many side things
I'm going to have to drop out of this one.

Thats a pity, Joxx. I was quite looking forward to seeing what sort of model you were going to come up with.
