Hey there.
I brought this up on the CG Society game forum yesterday but got no real response on it. Since this Forum is getting off the ground maybe the idea's better suited here.

It seems like a lot of forums have the 'Stuff you're working on thread' for smaller side projects or little practice exercises. Upon checking out sites like Conceptart.org & their sketchbook forum, I was thinking that it would be cool if there was a part of the forum that catered to artist threads, where an artist can post the projects they're working on in one continuing thread. even like sculpting program 'sketches' or small practice models. ideally too, say an artist wanted to work on a huge project involving several different assets. instead starting multiple threads for each asset, you can track all of the progress in the one thread.

it's just a suggestion. i think it'd be a very good way for beginners to get crits & the pros to show off their stuff.

Yeh.. thats what all the forums have. Polycount, CGchat, 3dtotal, CG society. This is specifically a contest forum... correct me if I am wrong folks.

where do the other forums have artist threads? as opposed to the project based threads i mean.

under the art forums it said 'finals, wips, & monthly competitions' giving me the impression that this site was geared for all of the above.

hmm i agree with kurocrash on this one. there should be a thing like a my project and all the pictures of your project in progress. would be good if they are posting there findings also. like this worked and this didn't work but then i did this and it was perfect.

I don't get it:confused:

What would you like? A projects forum for gameart? I think the Game 3D Art forum can handle this no?

I think this is a good suggestion but in all honestly could you not start a thread for say “A RTS army” and just put all your stuff in that thread. It really all just boils down to how you name your post. Unless you are talking about something other than a modeling project like an animated short or something like that. From my understanding this is a site specifically focused on contests. The other stuff is just added bonus but not a main focus.

a sketchbook thread would be nice, this way we could watch an artist easier and would be less threads. Instead of threads like X's wip/Y model. it would be like X's sketchbook.
