Hello fellow gameartisans!
This is my first ever challenge here and I hope to make a good showing.
BIG special thanks to Fredh for helping me get started, the entry page was being a bit of a bugger
At any rate here is my first sketchs I did:

Going for the Anthro style while taking cues from Kingdom Heart's exaggerated anatomy.
What you see here is a anicent chinese Dragoness (right) and the character I've grown fond of and will be doing a mountain lioness (left)
Basic character setup:
She's daring, adventerous, cunning and hunts for sport. No she's not exactly Lara Croft but close! This Mountain Lioness (true name coming soon) has climbed the highest peaks, tranversed the thickest jungles and made sport of the most intimidating predators all over the world. Though she hasn't done much deep sea diving. Admittedly she hates water, but has a passion for cool waterfalls.
I know the tail is a bit more foxy then lion, thats because she was going to be a fox. Don't worry I've already changed that in upcoming sketchs.

Interesting, maybe you could have claws sticking out of a pair of custome made boots? I personally don't like when female characters have big feet, sort of takes away from the feminine feeling but i guess a half cat character can pull it off a bit more. Good Luck!

Funny you mention claws because I was thinking that!
Here are the next two concepts I had, just trying a few things
I dig sketching in Photoshop!
a sexy, harajuku, ver. and a more spelunking friendly outfit
I'll likely combine the two

She still has a fox tail for now
I'm digging it haha.
and furthermore to zip or to unzip that is the question.
I hate it when I have multiple concepts I like, it makes choosing a real chore

I prefer the one on the right. Not to zip is my opinion! haha. The bandana works real well and portrays a good adventerous personality!

Fleshing out the face more and really focusing on the eyes:

filled in some colors just to get an idea of where I want to go with them.
Also added a potential final pose sketch.
Gotta get serious though and make my character sheet, the only part I'm actually buggin about.
Hopefully I can keep them consistant.

I choose the left... Although I'm not quite sure why she would wear a mini skirt if she was doing action stuff...

looking even better! I really like that bandanna with hair coming over the face look. It brings there eyes out even more.

The eyes and color really start to make this one for me... I always tend to focus on the eyes first as well. I love the scarf and bandana combo. The thing I notice is that you've got a really in depth treatment on the feet, but little to nothing on the arms and hands. Seems a little bottom heavy on the silhouette is all.

I'm still kick'n' in this contest.
I figured I should post my progression here so I'll remain eligible to compete and to see what you think of my character sheet of Huli

This was a real bugger for me, but I'm fairly happy with it.
Besides I need to get to cracking on the final or I may not finish by the due date!
Oh I figure I should say this:
No her pants are not going to be torn away on one side in the final concept
this is so you understand the flow of anatomy under the clothing and placement/look of her boots.
tell me what you all think + or -.

Looking good. What are your plans for the final image? Please don't have only her in the shot with a plain BG, she's crying out to be doing something exciting in an interesting scene!

Rayartz, you've mastered the whole Kingdom Hearts scene, you have been busy indeed.

Thanks Dark Martian and Keegan
I don't know about mastered but the comment is much appreciated and therefor I must be on the right track to deserve it!
I have pretty nice plans for the final.
After changing the character sheet a little, I've got her sketched and will start refining the final piece tomorrow!
Then she'll be ready for color malestation!

I've already submitted Huli into the final and so here is the final concept of her all colored up and ready for exploring and hunting.

I had a really good time and it was fun to see a concept grow to completion.

Thanks for the comments!
I really appreciate the confidence booster.
Chibi drawing is not really my forte'
and I wanted to branch out away from the norm of what Wii games are being flooded with
but definately had to stay cute
because cute is cool and fun. :D
