Dear GameArtisans Community,
It is with great pleasure to announce the first news of Battlegroup Frontlines 2 (BGF2).
BGF2 is a new project of experienced and skilled developers from Battlegroup Frontlines. A famous World War II mod for Battlefield 2 that is currently in development, which is about to release their first version in the coming months. The goal of BattleGroup Frontlines 2 is, equal to BGF, to shift the players of Crysis back in time to Italian Front of World War II.
BattleGroup - Frontlines 2 will feature an extremely authentic atmosphere. Features include:
- Historically accurate vehicles, aircraft, and weapons
- Realistic and accurate sounds
- Realistic weapon aiming and firing physics
- Famous battlefields, but also a lot of infamous battles.
Our team's goal of realism is an ambitious one, with the need of incorporating accurate striking powers and ranges of weapons. Naturally, a few things will need to be amended for the sake of quality gameplay, but with realism still held to the highest standard. We believe that it is possible to incorporate both incredible realism and exciting gameplay, and BattleGroup Frontlines 2 will achieve the balance.
Our first release will be set on the Italian Front and will feature many types of maps including beach landings, town fights, night attacks, air fights or naval battles.
We are making no secrets about the fact that our main goal is to develop the best Crysis World War II mod humanly and technically possible.
With our first update you can also already have a look at today´s render. They show the SdKfz 7, which is a half-track military vehicle used by the German Wehrmacht. It was modeled by our very talented Badscull.

Development of the SdKfz 7 started in 1934 for an eight-tonne (7.87 tons) half-track. The vehicle first appeared in 1938 and was destined to be used mainly as the tractor for the 8.8 cm Flak gun. The vehicle could carry up to 12 men and a considerable quantity of supplies, as well as pulling up to 8,000 kg (17,600 lb) of weight. Most were fitted with a winch, and the vehicle was widely considered very useful. It was also outfitted as a weapons carrier, to particularly good effect with anti-aircraft weapons (the SdKfz 7/1 and SdKfz 7/2). They were admired even by their enemies, with the British trying to make exact copies of captured vehicles and some vehicles being pressed into service by the Allies after the war. It has been depicted in several war movies and was the vehicle in which the three survivors of The Dirty Dozen made their escape at the end of the Robert Aldrich movie.
