This was for a handheld worldbuilder art test I just finished. The requirements were 1500 polys(tris), 16 64x64 diffuse textures and to be vertex lit.
Critque is welcome!

I would bump the overall contrast up and also desaturate your textures...
I would desaturate the red stairs almost all the way to take most of the red out of the map.. it clashes too much with the other colors..
Can we see a wireframe to see where you spent your polys?

Thanks for the helpful comments and I agree with what you're saying. For the wires just click on the link below the image.
cool... sorry I'm new to the forum so I didn't know that...
I would say you have a good distribution of polys there...
Is the blue stuff supposed to be some sort of plasma or something? If so I think it would be cool if that were bright and glowed...
If I have time I will do a quick photoshop paintover to get my points across better...

Yes, I agree. I did several test renders with being varied colors and as being the primary light for the scene. But in the end I left it as water or something (uranium waste, or something based on googling "containment room). The test guidelines didn't specify what it was, just to use realistic textures.

did you do this for an art test? a friend of mine did a test and the model looked very similar to this one
good overall. i would reduce some of the red you have on the stairs. and im assuming that the blue stuff is in a clear tube, yeah? if it is then i would drop a bit of the saturation of the blue

Hey Chris,
Thanks for the comments. Nobody likes my red stairs, huh. While looking up "containment rooms" I saw a lot of industrial scenes of nice shiny colored equipment. It's like "hey look at that sexy red floor with the slimy green machines". =) But in the end I do think it all came out a bit too colorful, especially with the low res texture, which makes it hard to pull off photo-esk.
That is funny about your friend. Does mine compare?
