ABOUT RHINDREGODO
--------------------------------------------
There is parasitic virus known as chiemarosytus that infects the brain, pituitary gland, spinal cord, and reproductive system. Each new strain can carry DNA from it current host and pass it on to newly infected. Those infected after birth only visible symptom is growing larger in size over time. However, should the infected try to reproduce, their offspring will severely mutate during pregnancy with the DNA that is carried within the virus.
Rhindregodo is the offspring of an infected Rhino. Its most prominent mutations are that of a Red Tegu, a Pit Viper, and some components of an African fruit bat. It developed two heads in which the senses where split. The upper head has no eyes, it developed ears that use sonar and heat-pits, but it only eats based on heat signatures. It's tongue has a strong palette; distasteful food is expelled via the lower mouth before it gets to the stomach. The lower head has no ears, a very wide and strong nose, and eyesight slightly better than a normal rhino. Its tongue is weak so it relies heavily on scent. Its mouth does all the chewing for both heads; it has queue cavities for food from upper head. The arms of the upper body are fairly useless, but the hind legs help capture and put food in the lower mouth.

Model WIPs - 05.20.2007

I stuck with my original design. The extra legs are funky looking, but to me it was "boring" without them.

Concept - 04.18.2007

This will do; but if I have time later on, I'll do a concept more dramatically painted
and less coloring bookish.

Thanks. Good question. I'm not entirely sure, yet. As of now, It will mostly be like a Rhino, but with quite a bit of Crocodile and Armadillo like scales, and striated markings. Right now, it needs a more unified form so it looks like it evolved this way and not so much like a fusion experiment or mutation.

well i can say that im excited. maybe do some research that way they seem to really look like they were meant to be together.

This is looking pretty cool; one suggestion would be to make the tail a bit longer. Maybe half the length of its body for balance, and because it may look even cooler!:)

thanks Marcus, I'll make the tail very thick on top of your suggestion. It's rump is way too high anyway. I'll be starting the real concept soon.

I'll keep my image updates at the top of the thread.

It still looks like a fusion/mutation, which I actually like, but it's silhouette is much better than the 1st.
Those colors need plenty work.

How do you like the tail Marcus?

Now that’s looking pretty sweet, the amalgamation of the two creatures is much clearer now. The tail adds a great sense of weight and balance which should also be fun to model as well. The one thing that bugs me is the serpent’s legs around the other creatures head. There’s something about it that rubs me the wrong way but hell it could work as well, I guess once it’s modeled it may read better. I can’t wait to see the start of the model, as I’m sure you’ll have a blast with the design direction.

Wow, a head dragon.. now thats pretty badass, and I agree with the legs around the head.. It looks wierd and it would be better without them, design and polycount wise

Yeah... The more I look at it... the more of a mess it looks.

Even before I sketched the thumbnail, I had the original Rhino horns with the legs, but that made the silhouette of the upper body appear..."well endowed". Anyway, without the legs there, it looked like it was missing something.

A light bulb went off a second ago. I will be out of town all next week (I have no laptop), so I will spend the rest of this week finalizing the concept with my new idea.

i like the bony plating on it. i'd maybe add that plating to those legs hanging in front of his face. that way, they could act as movable horns essentially

Kurocrash - You kinda happen to have the same lightbulb turn on in your head too. I was actually gonna have the horns coming out of the knees; but, the thighs and shins are going to be fused as if they were trying to burst out of the head and neck. It will make more sense when I finish the new concept.

My favourite concept so far man. A bigger tail would indeed look nice.

I am 0 for 2. I seriously need to work on my time management with all these projects I have going on. Too many irons in the fire, I guess. Aside from my day job, I'm creating two props for Animazement this weekend. It be best if I back off from comps until I improve my workflow. So disappointing.
