Default has entered the competition!
I like this. For some reason, I get the idea that this creature slumbers in the earth beneath Stonehenge or Rapa Nui.

here is a larger concept image plus a weapon if anyone's interested. it's pretty much the direction i want to go, save for small tweaks and the shoulders.

He is pretty cool thus far, but his stone surfaces are screaming for some magical runes showcased all over his body! This would certainly strengthen his look as a magical construction.

After observing the larger concept, it gives off the feel to me that hes missing a head. If thats what your going for then right on, but if not maybe extending the torso a bit higher above the shoulders will put that to rest?

you got alot on your plate, are you hungery enough to eat it all.
I don't think it needs a head. If anything at all, maybe some ruined structures to show it used to be a platform for ancient rituals or simply some sort of glyph.

maybe some sort of sun god/sun dial on the flat bit? that'd make for an awesome 'trap' deal? the player runs to like a huge veranda sort of deal & then it starts shaking & voila, they're on top of this guy.

Nice feel. Right now though I'd say the only thing giving him the sense of scale is the human figure. If you took that out he'd feel person sized, just beefy. Think about small nicknacks or greebles you could add that would lend a sense of scale. Doors, Bolts, graffiti, anything that people readily know the general size of, will instantly tell them how big he is. Since he's kind of mystical, you'll have to get creative, but you basically need to think of something you can add, that most people instantly know the general size of.

You might want to put in something along the lines of the Aztec clock. That might give out the impression of Mystical/Old.
