First time posting here, but seems that most are usual faces from all other foruns ; This competition came on the right time as i just finished some paper for school and i think i deserve some break now. This is my first idea for it, but now i'm not sure if i'll be able to make it look really uge. The inspiration comes from Nazguls or some of Reign of Fire big ones, at first they seem huge, but seeing what other people are coming up with i'm not sure hehe, lets see how this goes, if not that well i'll start a fresh one. I also wanted to get away a bit from the "usual" Shadow of Colossus style.

Very nice board layout by the way, great colors ;)

i'm digging this one. i think everyone's eager to see the sense of scale everyone else is using lol
regardless, i'm liking this. if you decide to make it uber-huge, i'd maybe suggest making the mouth a little broader or something, kind of like the width of a whale's, just to help push along how huge you want to go with it.
are the horns bony? they seem assymmetrical & chipped but it's really light. it'd be cool if so. keep it up!

Thx for posting ;) After some more work on that concept my fears became true and it would look kinda boring if it was really huge. Even thou i was liking the head direction and seems that the entry name is not possible to change =P so still following in the same direction.

Ok here it is then, quick quick one done after a full day of classes so sorry for it. Arms or no arms? just studing the idea anyway... Hope to post something a little bit more elaborated soon.

without the arms he kind of looks a bit bat like, which might be a cool direction to maybe take it? bat-dragon-y?
maybe bigger arms? almost kind of like like a gorilla? the two concepts you drew have him in sort of a 3/4 standing view, but if the arms extended down giving him the option of being 2 or 4 legged would definitely take it out of traditional dragon territory. just some ideas

i'd definitely keep the longer neck though. it's kind of a feature none of the other entries have going (as far as i remember lol) and would essentially make your entry a tougher boss that can move around & follow the player better for devastating attacks

Well, thought i'd give him a bit of volume so he won't look large but too slim as the previous one. So here is a new one on the same style as the lastest but heavier. I might continue to the modeling instead of keep trying to draw a decent concept as with university exams coming soon i'm afraid of my free time to finish this one.

Lookin' good, lookin' good. I'd elaborate the visor a bit more to give it some separation from the rest of its head. Maybe a crest perhaps.

The dragon like armor could be a cool addition to give him a great sense of mass and weight. I’m looking forward to see where you’re heading with the design.

Thx for the comments guys ;) I already start the basemesh but don't have the file here so will post it on the next reply.

Marcus, the dragon armor was one of the ideas for the clothes but still haven't decide, i don't want it too look too overdone, i mean the dragon theme should be more discreet.

I'm still working on the back concept, i want to make it huge, the wings and horns/spikes will help that, but not sure if it will be enought.

dunno if i'll continue with this one till the end :\ still some design issues... but time will tell. Will keep on it for now, the basemesh is done now will give him the Zbrush pass. How you guys would do it? the whole char on Zbrush or detach the wings and details them separatly? same for the horns.. same mesh or detached?

Well found some time today for a quick Zbrush pass, still trying to fix the main propotion and basic anatomic issues. Just blocking it out so far. I will need to hurry up a lot or i won't have time to finish it due to univerisity.

I really like the head and torso.. the wings... not so much - they look more like big fins than wings to me. Might be the thickness.

sorry to come in a bit too late here, but if i were you, i'd only model where the bones & muscle are in the wings, take that into your sculpting program, & then run some flat polys in between them for the skin flaps later (and sculpt them too if you want, add things like folds & veins?).
as an example, i think gavin's doing that with his leviathan model & the fins on its back. he did the spines, but later he'll add the fin in between later (i'm assuming...? lol) i think marcus dublin was doing it too with the wings on his guy until he decided to work in another direction.
you feasibily could keep trying to work on the version you've got going but it's going to take a lot of work to get them to look right.
and sorry to come in kind of after the fact. it happens to me all the time & it's agrivating.
the rest of the body is so far looking pretty nice!

Thx for the help guys. Unfortunatly now i'm not sure if i'll finish the model for the competition, not only due to the lack of time but also as i realised it doesn't really fit the brief. Not much work done from last update too.

kurocrash, that is a good idea, but i think i won't restart it :D i already have a few complaing on the basemesh, a few tricky polys but tryed hard sculp them, and it would be nice to have a re worked basemesh, but no come back this far :D
