How to Start Your Entry

Dominance War IV's entry system is currently OPEN.


To begin your GameArtisans entry for Dominance War IV, follow these steps:

Step 1:
Create a new thread in this forum by pressing the "New Thread (http://gameartisans.org/forums/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=22)" Icon at the bottom of this forum.

Please label your thread with the following title: Dominance War IV - 2D - username - your entry's name

Step 2:
When you have your thread, copy it's url.
Example: http://www.gameartisans.org/forums/showthread.php?t=NO#thread

Then go here to officially join Dominance War IV - 3D
http://www.gameartisans.org/contests/dw/4/join_2d.html

When you get to your personal submission page you will need to do 3 things:
1. Paste your copied url into the url field and press save.
2. Enter a title/CharacterName for your entry and press save.
3. submit a 128x128 thumbnail and press upload.

When done, wait for your entry to be approved and your entry will show up here:

In my case, the process took about 20 hours...

After you make your initial entry - go back to the "Artist Home" (tab on top)
and check you post history (bottom left of you artist home page). You will see your post history there.

When you click on your post, you will get an error message saying that the thread is not found or doesn't exist...thats normal.

Wait up to 24 hours, and you should be good to go...

I have been waiting to enter, but it keeps saying that the entry system is closed (even thought it is way past March 20th). Perhaps I was foolish to wait.

Could someone please walk me through how to join a team and officially enter? The site's instructions have been quite confusing. I would hate to miss out on the competition just because I didn't understand the entry system.

I m kind of confused of the 2 d entry for domianace war...I looked in the rules several times nad it mainly mentions of requirements for 3d and how to support 3d material with 2d work...but is it not possible to enter just 2d if u can could u pls direct me...because im slightly confuse of the size and the prep work for the final idea

I'm having trouble Saving my character name - saving the WIP thread link and uploading my characters picture - for osme reason everytime i try and do it it doesnt register and just goes back to empty - as if i never did anything...

Any ideas? Am i doing anything wrong? :(

I tried step 2 and it gave a list of things such as name/state/ etc and then i said save/continue and it redirects me to GA. Did I miss something? Because I didn't see anyhting to submit a profile pic, url, or title. D:

StudioReepa - I deleted your entry. When you go to the join page, if you see an edit entry link, refresh the page until you see 11 team logos. Choose your team and press join. This should get you to the right and functioning page:) Let me know if it works. PM if it doesn't.

EmilyW - Perhaps you were not logged in with "remember me" checked? logout of GA and then back in with remember me checked. Then join the cmpetition. Let me know via pm if this helped or not:)

H.G. the only deadline is May 11th, when you must submit your entry by. I'm sure you're free to start at any time, as long as you post your WIPs. GL! :thumb:

Mr.Crowley - There is no maximum entries per forum and if details need changing, I can help. PM me the details if I haven't helped you already:)

timoge - You must start a thread on your team of choice. If it's gameartisans, then you can attach images of your progress by pressing on the Go Advanced button in the quick reply section on the bottom of your thread. When on the next page, press the attach files button and load in some images. This is how you can show your work:)

-K- - You can make any class for any forum. Just be sure to use the forum's colors (black and gold for GA) and/or team logo.

This may be a particularly silly question but, are the model sheets go for color this year? I am only asking because in past Dominance War and other contests, the rules specifically stated that they had to be monochromatic. That is not stated in the rules anymore, but it also has not said they are color either. I haven't seen it answered any official, so some clarification would be fantastic. Thank you in advance for the help!

^^ I just checked the rules page. The model sheets don't have any color restrictions, but the concept sheets do - black & white or monochromatic.

Yeah, I know about the concept sheet. That's the same as it has always been. The model sheets used to have the same restriction, just wondered if it had officially changed, that's all. Thanks for checkin, still would like an official word, but So far I agree that it is open.

To change/remove the url link, try to contact/PM FredH as the GA/DomWar Founder, i'm sure he will help you.
To show/upload your progress/wip, you can paste the url link from image hosting like photobucket or other. But, you still can upload it by GA image uploader.

betandri - Your title is in, so I guess all is good now. I guess you might have tried to use a ' between chook'an. ' These little guys prevent the title from being saved.

No, you only get one. Use the extra time to polish your single entry... You are allowed to do a 2D entry and a 3D entry - you could use all your free time to start a new 3D entry instead! :D

It also says that on the DWIV Rules Page now. Just this morning it said the 11th. If this is true, it will be great at least for me. Maybe DW IV magically knew everyone's having finals right now, heh. :lol:

You need to wait a little.
It was the same with me when I tried to upload my thread on the site.
If you made all is correct, just wait a little. I hope, your entry should be appear soon in the "artist home" link.

Forgot to mention, I've done it 3 times in the course of the month and it doesn't work, I don't even see the options to "Enter a title/CharacterName for your entry and press save" nor the "submit a 128x128 thumbnail and press upload", I thought it would take some days but after so much time I'm thinking something's wrong, or I'm doing something wrong, after all, I'm new to this site.

Ah, I apologize, but I'm having a bit of trouble! Maybe I'm blind, but on my personal submission page, I'm trying to add new art (and even looking at the current status of my entry, which i already posted as artwork in my concept gallery) and see nowhere to paste my URL for that initial new thread and to save it, etc. Can someone please clarify a bit? I'm new to using this site, and I'm a bit confused on this part.

Keep trying till it works. Everyone is submitting at same time, so this is causing problems. Just keep doing what you are doing over and over again until it works:)

It's been well over 20 times. I didn't have much trouble submitting 3 of my images but I'm on the last one and it won't load :(

For me, gameartisans is crashing some times when I load the page. with 200 people trying to submit their finals at the same time, expect some weird things:) Just keep trying. I have extended the comp for a bit. As things cool down, tonight, it should become easier to submit your finals.

There seems to be something wrong.
I have joined, put in my personal stats and after that I end up on the main page of the forum.

No trace of any page where you should upload or anything.

bjkaha - There is a grace period for artists with submission problems. The two reported problems are the white screen with sorry, and the upload image problem where error text shows instead of an image thumbnail. Both problems can be solved by.... repeatedly trying again and again and again.
