Wicked concept man. Don Quixote!
Can't wait to see this progress and what style you're going to take.
Good Luck

This is actually a pretty cool idea; Taking a windmill and making a giant out of it. I wonder if you really need the head though. What if you continued the body all the way up? Regardless, nice start man. It will be interesting to see how you develop him further.

Thanks guys!
Gavin: Thanks! Yeah, I thought I'd go for something certain people might appreciate. :D
Fredh: Hmmm... that's something I should think about...
I'll try to post some pics up as it progresses.
I hope the final product lives up to expectations (or more).

Don Quijote de la Mancha would freak out if he could see this.

Good progress. You jumped from concept to a base mesh really fast. Nice:thumb: It will be interesting to see how you incorporate the mill on his back.

It would be awsome if you put the eyes on the sides of the actual wind thing and the mouth in the middle.

Scary windmill. :) Nice! Windows not leading anywhere though. Or they will glow the light from the inside? Would be terrific!

That's a great idea! I wasn't sure how people would react to the windows. Transparent windows! I can see it now....little rooms... Thanks! :D

Hey, just saw this now. This is looking really good! aside from the windows, if you have extra polies, it would be cool if you emphasized the grass and roots more with a few transparencies. This would make him look much more fuzzy, which could be cool.
I am not sure if you are keeping this lighting so i will just mention this anyways; right now, it's a bit too black in some areas. It makes him look small.
Otherwise, like I said, he is coming out great. With one more week for polish, I am sure he is going to look even better! Keep it up:thumb:

Thanks for the input! I do see what you mean about the shadows. Grass and roots sound like a good idea. :D

Hey buddy, this is coming along very well. Aside from what has been said, if you're feeling up to it...what about adding some tattered cloth on the blades of the windmill part?

yeah, I always thought windmills had those, but I could never find a pic of a windmill that had it.. :/ So I assumed having canvas on it was an anomaly.
Ones I remember that had it were from Scooby Doo cartoons and that Duran Duran video...
I think it's a great idea, I think I will put it in there.
the canvas on windmills is to catch the wind..
http://webpages.charter.net/letssenddevintoeurope/images/windmills%20-%20netherlands%202.jpg
if its not in use they leave the cloth off because it could rip the blades to shreds in bad weather (they are made of wood so strength is limited) so once they have the mill in use they climb in the blades to attatch the canvas to pick up the wind and the blades start turning.

Adding sails, also added some fuzziness on the grass, changed windows a bit, now is transparent.

Hey this turned out pretty cool all things considered, I would have never imaged what a giant walking windmill would look like and I guess you’ve taken the liberty of showing us. Anyway I can see this model unleashing hell in some RTS, hehe. Congrats on finishing d_art and I look forward to seeing you in future comps!
Marcus
PS: It would have been cool if you had a background. Maybe if you have the time I’d recommend a stormy backdrop and for the rain you can use alphas with a bit of Photoshop loving for the splashes. Just my 2 cents!

somehow, I missed this entry. Once in a while, you should probably upload a new thumbnail:inocent:
The final result came out really nicely. It's great that you got rid of the black spots in the lighting. Additionally, the torn and weathered look on everything looks great! Congrats on finishing:)

Marcus, indeed, that would be a very cool scene. :D
Antimagic, yeah I probably should've had a new thumbnail..hehe... Thanks!
