Hey Guys,

Just recently I submitted my final DW2 image into the 3D Total gallery. It got accepted and I was offered to make a "Making Of" article. I took the offer and the article is now available on 3dtotal.com

http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorials_3/making_of_thrull/making_of_thrull01.asp

It's a fairly quick run down, just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who's interested.

Thanks!
Gav

nice one Gav! Glad to see I'm not the only one who resorted to quick and dirty posing methods :D

I just flipped through it, and i very much like what you have shown. I do have a question about this "light map" your speaking of. I'm not familiar with it, i can infer what it is but id love for some more details! Pm me, or post or something, i like your method.

Cheers guys, thanks for all the feedback!

BluPanda: I setup some lights in my scene and, with the character selected, I open up Max's Render To Texture menu, select "Lighting Map" (there will be a drop down menu with a few options which include Lighting Map), set the size for it and click "Render." It'll take all of the lighting information of my model with normal maps on it and just bake it into a texture.

You could also probably set this up with the Projection modifier so that you can project the lighting information of the high poly mesh imported from ZB onto your low poly model. I haven't really found a need for this and doing it would probably cause my computer to billow out smoke.

Hope this helps a little,
Gav

this is really useful, thankyou for making it. I have been having a real headache recently with trying to figure out how to make characters when I am going to sculpt them. I could make low poly characters to an ok standard but this should help me alot to improve my skills along with some stuff that Dreamer sent me.

thanks!

They somehow need to make space for this, in the Triumvirate of Awesome.
