When you say a pencil sketch filter "he wrote". Im assuming you mean these were photos that were then procedurally changed in the program?

Oh and what's up Baaah :D, it's great seeing all these familiar faces.

Yeah man it has a very CGchat in the good ole days vibe which is great as I personally think that cgchat was certainly one of the reasons why I got so into Cg and got a job in the field. may it RIP :(... Well onwards and upwards with GA being more game focused its probably the natural progression for most CGchat peeps.
So what you working on at SCEA (provided its been announced of course ;)) I'm working on Empire Total War which is cool as its going to kick ass, (if your into that type of game)
Back on topic
As for the App it looks cool, although a few issues with trying to replicate pencil sketching, 1 is how exact the shadeing is, a little variance and stroke lines in the shadeing would make it a tad more realistic. Also a little jitter and varience of pencil stroke would give the bolder parts of the sketch a more natural feel.
Im assumeing the program does a few passes, first doing shape recognition and colour sampling to determin which object is which, then if the app is tweakable I assume you have sliders like crazy bump where you can change the intesity, contrast, levels of the resulting effects so you can tweak it?
It would also probably help if you posted up the origional images, cause im guessing that the boat one is a foggy scene, which if it is thats a great look, if its not foggy then the levels the program is chooseing its edges and shadeing at might need adjusting...

Good info Baaah. I am gonna pass on the information to him because yeah, one of my crits was that it's too "perfect". Needs some variance. Also, you can change the paper texture...
Still doing bball for now, trying to go above and beyond what they need to make it look as good as possible even though no one notices it when the game is going :D!!
