Slightly different content than my past ones, and I'm afraid this means most of my future tutorials will be here rather than on my website, but I'm enjoying having a whole new area to create learning resources for.

What else, but Photography!

I think the blog format works much better for these type of updates, plus you can incorporate comments back into the original post.
good luck!

damn dude.... your photography always amazes me. Do you plan to move to that field if you can instead of doing games? Or do you plan to do both?

I just have really enjoyed all of it. I feel like I can engineer an entire feel in a very short time. I find the entire process enjoyable, both taking the shot, and editing afterwards.

I am actively trying to change over to photography as a full time career. I feel burnt out by this industry, and while I want to still do 3d low poly, and diffuse only textures as a hobby and possibly on small personal games, I don't have any desire to work on the myriad of next-gen games being produced now in the game industry.
Thanks for all the words of support guys, I am enjoying this whole process.

I dig the new site Ben. I showed it to Melissa to see if she can learn anything. :)

Sad to hear that you leave the industry. You have always been kind of a mentor to me :).
Anyway.
Viel Glück auf deinem neuen Weg :)

That is so sad. Really. Both the industry and the community at large will be at a loss. You're not simply an artist. To many, you're an asset and constant source of inspiration. To see the industry chew up and spit out one of it's best and brightest is deplorable.
Maybe, this detour will somehow bring you back to CG with a renewed interest and sense of purpose later on. Maybe you can redirect your evolving love for photography and lighting over to the film industry.
Do what you feel that you must. Just don't lose contact with the board. There's still so much that you have to contribute. Newbies everywhere would be at a loss, should you fall off of the face of the planet.

Before you leave you must finish 1 3d model, I demand it xD
I have't seen you model anything outside of your tutorials (which are very helpful by the way)
But yeah, do what you love is probably the coolest thing to do with life :D
I have a friend who wants to be a photographer when he isn't flying commercial air-planes.

nice site! too bad your leaving the industry, as long as you keep posting your lowpoly diffuse-only stuff here it's okay with me though (lol, as if you need my permission :P). your tuts really helped me out when i was learning max!
hope to see more stuff soon!

Thanks for the kind words guys. I have no plans to leave the 3d community, and while my tutorials will probably be fewer and further between, I'll still be doing them as I can think of stuff that needs covering.

your photos are really great,
although it's really sad that your leaving the industry, but it's also cool that you do what you feel like.
I've really learned a lot from your site, without it I'm not sure if I would have a job today :D
anyhow, good luck with your photos!
