this is not really concept art, more a doodle that turned out to be an illustration but i guess its ok to post it here. its just that im pretty lucky with the result, but still would like to read some critiques or simpel comments if you prefer. going to print this as poster and bring it to the masses!

oh and dont ask me about the very true and deep meaning...its just everyones trip through whatever. :think:

i have to admit, i dont have any special technique.
i made a pencil drawing which was very loose, with random strokes, so i can paint out of some abstract forms. very nice meditation technique if you dont have anything specific to paint. ;)

when working digital im using mostly a round oily brush with a little bit of texture on. when i need even more texture i switch to the oil pastells. for some atmosphere and lightning i work with the digital airbrush...thats mostly it.

but ill make sure to save some steps with the next painting. unfortunately this file was overwritten several times and i dont use any layers, so theres nothing more to show.

I never realy managed to get into painter, I am a strict photoshop guy. But alot of the basic concepts of painter can be done in photoshop, with a bit more effort on blending colors with the color picker.

But I am exploring open canvas more and more and use it to just lay down color. because you can already easely blend the colours rougly which will save time in the photoshop process. Plus OC is a tiny prog


anyway, I really like this digital painting! the colors work well and the atmosphere is nice and dreamy
one minor crit; around the border you have these undefined dark brush strokes, and it gives it an unfinished look. I think it would be cool to see something done with leafs or tree bark.
