Hello! Friends, i have a problem with normal map: i have low poly and hi poly models, when i bake normalmap on lowpoly with 1 smooth group assigned to all it polys - there are "bad places" on normal map. When there are different smooth groups - there are some kind of seams between smooth groups on normal map. I attached some images to better understanding my problem. Thanks.

you should have only one smoothing group throughout the model.
What "bad places" do yo talk about? Black spots?

Yup, butt_sahib is right. Always have one smoothing group on your low mesh. Multiple smoothing groups are a normal map's worst enemy. Don't worry about how it looks on the normal map. It should render properly. The wierd hard line seams you are talking about is a result of multiple smoothing groups, so just use one.

The separated smoothing group will project the polygon normal out in a different direction, and won't take into account its bi-normal direction. It's generally not the desired effect.

The only time I like to break apart the smoothing groups on clothing, is for natural seamlines. And that's only if you have the geometry to spare for it, and want to have a really sharp look to the seam.

2butt_sahib - i mean that dark places under the pockets
Thanks guys. Model with normal map is truly good in render..... but i can't understand why i have that "bad places". When i look on normal map of professional artist - it's truly cool - no bad places, no holes and etc. Like in your works Chris and Jacque. Do you spend much time in photoshop to tweak it ?
