Hello Everyone,

I am the creative director at Digital Roar Studios and we have just announced our title Ascension for Mac, PC, Wii and iPhone. I wanted to start this thread as a way to dialog with the artist community and also to showcase our talented team, but also to allow them to post several tutorials for the techniques we are employing to create this game. First off I would like to showcase our guys art in general. Currently we have a featured video on www.gametrailers.com

(concept art preview)

and several other examples on www.youtube.com

(environment concept art and soundtrack preview)

You can also check out our website at www.ascensionwar.com

Our first tutorial will be on rendering a environment cube map from a 3D scene you have created. Future tutorials will involve creating space environment concepts in 3D and general pipeline from concept to 3D model for both vehicles and characters.

As we finish more and more of the game we will showcase the new artwork here.

Thanks to everyone,

So basicly it's like a space RTS?

Voyuer: Thanks we are working hard on the art style.

ShadyD: Actually it is more of a first person space combat where you fly the ship from within or from a third person camera. The basic Idea is you jump in a ship and enter a map where a battle between two, say, mother ships is taking place. You "fly" the ship like you would in other flight games but taking advantage of the fact that you are in space and do not need to have continuous forward motion to stay aloft. Each map has a set of objectives that require your team to take advantage of the six ship types in the game. If you were to compare it to other games you could draw a line between this and the game play types from first person shooters, where you have to defend a base or take and hold strategic points on a level. I hope that clarifies things. We will be updating the site soon to help define the game play better.

Thanks
