So I'm having a hard time clearing my head in order to do my best work. I've tried all my standards, but nothing is working. Which leads me to this question, what are your favorite ways to clear your head, and get your mind ready for some serious work?

Get in the water and catch a few waves. :)

But if thats not an option I try to do something that puts my mind on a simple and unrelated task. Like I'll have a beer and cook some dinner for me and my wife.

Thats what works for me anyway.

Oh and driving. I have half my good ideas in the car. :)

a good way is to actually watch movies with action (transformer, xmen, hitman) those are just some examples i know when i watch movies with cgi my blood starts to rumble and i get the itch to toy with stuff.

Driving like Nazeil said is a awesome way but the way gas is going these days a standard walk will saffice. Ive come up with some random crazy cool ideas just walking my kids to the park.

There's some good ideas, guys, thanks. I don't have a car or license (yes I'm more than old enough to have both), but I guess the real point there is just getting away for a while. Watching movies sounds like a great idea to me, actually. That's one of my standards I haven't tried yet. Get a bunch of movies, and spend all day watching them ;)

I think maybe I'll take a little walk down to the video store, and see what I can find. Thanks a lot guys, and just in case anyone else is going through the same thing I am, keep those suggestions coming.

I know some good ways to clear your head... unfortunately you'd have to move to my country to do it legally :D

Just kidding, when I want to clear my head I go to the gym, or when the weather is nice, explore the neighbourhood>find a nice place to chill>take a good moment to think about your life/goals>just watch the surroundings>dont forget to bring a cold beer ;) Im pretty sure youll feel relaxed when you come back ;)

I actually just took up painting. love it, totally freshness me up, and you get a little texture practice while you at it. Sculpting also refreshes my head when I feel burnt out on 3d.

Get away from the computer and enjoy the fresh air!:) Seriously though I think taking a bit of a hiatus is healthy even if only for a week, you'll come back reinvigorated and ready for action!

Play any musical instruments? Knock out a few chords.
I find music always works.

For me a lot of things work.

Playing a game (bf2142 right now), reading a few favorite online comics or a good book are a couple of classic standbys. But lately, I've been drawing. I'm not much of a 2-D guy so I need the practice, plus it just calms the nerves a bit. It forces my mind to slow down and focus.

If that does not work I stay up late, no seriously. I don't know why, but for some reason I find it easier to concentrate late at night and I do a lot of my best work after midnight... It is not uncommon for me to stay up till 5 am on a major caffeine binge working and then sleep till 1 pm the next day. I know it is a bit odd, but it works for me.

Then again, sometimes I think I'm just not right in the head. :p

Wow, even more great suggestions, thanks all.

Unfortunately, there's very little the video store could offer me that I haven't already seen, and looked good, so that idea's kinda out the window. I'm starting to think a break is exactly what I need. Minimal computer time normally helps, but I got sooo much to do... I guess it could keep for a few days anyway.

I got some non-computer related art stuff I could do, like get back to that sculpture I started over a month ago, and never finished. And if I had more money, I'd get a guitar, which I've been wanting to learn to play for a while now, or buy a small weight bench, and call that my gym.

Meh, it's all starting to seem like I just need a computer break. Hopefully I'll be able to get my head straight in time to make the deadline for the comicon contest here. Thanks a ton guy's, appreciate the help.

I usually just take a long good bike ride to nowhere equipped with nothing but some money in case i get hungry or thirsty.
Whilst outside I just pay attention to the little things that I never do pay attention to.. such as a pwetty smawll bwirdy flying away or just the way the leaves of a tree react to the wind.. you know, calming things =)

If that fails, I usually just make myself a warm cup of tea and kick back with a nice movie or show.

Shoot your brain or Jump from the 10th floor. Probleme solved.

Usually team-Sports or games help alot clearing your mind from everything because you focus on the game/Sport then on the things beside you.

You need to focus on something else, thats the thing.
Also for example try to get addictd to something else, maybe try to hack a small game or something. Try to code own lil things. Try to work in group or other stuff you know.

Fresh air is a good thing but it only helps for a short moment. maybe im to young to earn the long moment of it.

Good luck. Im having hard times to get back in Art.

Electric Wizard would clear your head, it would clear it permanently!

Overall stonerdoom and alcohol is a surefire way to clean out any toughts you might have left hanging up there.

Go out to the movies and see something you haven't.

Get a tredmill I've been using one and I love it I do 1-6mph (sparadically changes between these speeds) for 40mins 10% incline, little tip eat lots of fruits 1hour or so before doing it (you'll have the energy to finish it).

But like everyone has said some games, shows, walk through a new park or part of your neighborhood (hopefully a good part ;) )
