The one thing that seems odd is the lack of the nose cavity; it would really help to define the face. Other than that it's a terrific start, keep em coming!:lucky:

Update time:
I didn't have that much time during the last week but here's the progress so far:
http://www.danielnoll3d.com/images/WIP/eddie/eddie_05_07.jpg
I added the body, kilt, shirt, and armor. All parts are still WIP as I want to block in things first. Next is belt and sash.

say, what's that material you're using? and how do you make it in Mudbox?
yeah you heard that right... that's the critique i have atm: a question! its really nicely done man! great amounts of detail, some of which might get lost in the normals map though, and you've done a great job on the cloth [which i need to learn to do... any tips?]
can't say more than: looking forward to the posed model!

Looking good man I really don't have much in the way of crits, keep it up!
indian_boy: say, what's that material you're using? and how do you make it in Mudbox?
Marcus: The material he's using is a custom wax shader in Zbrush 3, it's the default material. ZB3 even has a clay material that mimics the Mudbox look as well.:)

Well, I finished the body high poly mesh. Claymore still missing though. I hope I can finish the low poly by tomorrow. But for now I'm done. It's like 30 degress outside and I want play in the meadow!

woh, very nice stuff here. The only thing that seems a bit strange is his mid section belt. When it holds his cape in, it looks like it's tight. But when you see it run along his right side, it looks like it's very loose because it curves a little. I think if you straigtened it out a little, it would look less strange. Besides, this, I really like everything else. Especially the new take on the face. Nice work man.
I noticed the belt as well. Other than that, you have a terrifying, well executed model

First of all thx for all crits and hints. As Fred said I fixed the belt. Well and I got my normals out. With XNormal! i have to say: For me it worked very well! Compared to Max it is very fast. i was able to bake normals from 1000k meshes and higher. Baking more objects onto one lowpoly was also no problem. The maps where almost perfect except some few ray miss checks but I didnt do any cage tweaking or something similar!
So XNormal? I recommend it *ka-ching* :)
I hope I can finish it in time. Unfortunately I visit my hometown next week for some days so actually my deadline is July 25th :(. That said I have to rush most of the rest. I hope it will turn out well though.
And I will use FX Shaders. I have been playing with the demo of ShaderFX which I really like. Unfortunately the sss skinshader eats a lot of the normals so i have to do more work in the diffuse than I wanted to but as long as it looks nice I dont care.
Enough talk. Here the latest shots. The skin is quite finished. I'll add splattered blood and stuff later. And I just started the armor so no whining!

Hm yes. Now I am at work and I see that you are right. At home I have a TFT from Eizo and at work I use CRTs.
Hate that...

No, I'm using a 22'' LG Widescreen LCD!

Yeah, it's looking a bit dark over here too. I took it into photoshop and applied a levels layer to your progress shot. The graph is a pretty good indicator that you might need to re-adjust your screen. Everything is in the bottom 30% dark area. I realize this is not your final lighting, but if your wip's are this dark, this could kill your finals.
Besides this, everything else is shaping up great man:thumb:

Ok girls! I finished the model and texturing. Maybe I'll change the hair if I have time. I visit my hometown on thursday so this has to be done by tomorrow. As you can see I switched form FX Shaders to traditional rendering as I didnt like the result. Also dont underestimate shadows ;)

It's looking really good so far. Hope you will tone down the saturation in colors. At the moment, he is very vibrant. Light is looking pretty good for your first shot. He no longer seems too dark.
No other comments. Everything is shaping up great man.

All things considered Miguelito I'd have to say he came out pretty dam cool, all he needs some better color balancing and a kick ass pose to seal the deal! By the way you may want to dirty up his feet a bit as it looks like he just put on some new shoes. Nice work!:)

Wow this really came out well, you managed to workout some of the issues you had in your earlier posts and the end result shows this in spades! Easily one of my favorites of the comp, well done Miguelito!
