ThatDon - thanks a lot, this one will be an interesting one thats for sure.
Ok so here's my first entry into the 3d world, YEP IT's REAL BAD, YEp the Texturing is an eye sore and yes i have better ones i could of chosen to do, but this is as bad as it gets for me so it's perfect to see what i can turn it into.:D :D
ThatDon

LOL from the side view she looks like Hitler! :)

You've come a long way in a fairly short amount of time. Now turn this into a masterpiece!:thumb:

ThatDon - LOL your right:eek:
Marcus Dublin - thanks i guess i have, amazing what you can do when you push everthing else to the side and go with what youl love doing.:D and i will.
yoyomon - in a word YES,:D
BiG ToE - ha you know thats a good idea, but i'll do it with the new one.
Vikkie - thank you very much:)
ok so here's some progress still alot of optimizing to do, and i'm going to change the helmet, and a couple of other things to, this is still the concept stage for me.
oh and the planes for the hair still have to be done, so no she won't be Bold
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q287/shadowbreeze99/big%20Games/start.jpg
Chasarsis
06-22-2007, 10:43 AM
Good progress so far. I think the pack and the Armor elements around her head might be taking it a bit far from the original though. Though I have no idea how much play room we have in that regard anyway
I agree with Chasarsis. From back view, that pack kinda throws it off balance, like those bodybuilders with skinny legs. Everything else is looking good so far.
yoyomon
06-23-2007, 08:16 AM
Hrmmm, I think you should base her armor on the Sisters of Battle instead of the space marine armour. It'll be a bit more fluffier that she fell from the SoBs. The pauldrons make her shoulder look a bit too wide.
shadowbreeze
06-23-2007, 09:33 AM
Chasarsis - thanks, yeah i'm not sure either, i guess if i go to far i'll be told:D
Gods Phoenix - i agree too, but i had not worked on the bottom half yet so hopefully it will even out.
yoyomon - yeah that is what i'm working towards the pauldrons were just place holders to get an idea from, i'm working from some old rules for chaos, Slaves to Darkness and the lost and the damed hard cover books which i believe are still the best for chaos with all the really cool tables for creating chaos.
thanks for the input and keep, keeping me on the right track, for chaos.

ok so here's some more update, i'll start uv's soon i think.

Looking pretty good. Not too big on the clawed feet though. I think chaosy boots would fit the bill better.
Shinja
06-27-2007, 08:06 PM
Hey shadowbreeze its looking kool man. cant wait to see it textured etc. WD
shadowbreeze
06-29-2007, 07:20 PM
yoyomon - thanks, yeah i, still debating about 1 clawed foot, i guess it is one of my pet peeves about most chaos figures they always have normal feet, cheez as if the chaos gods would not change at least one foot:lol:
Shinja - thank you, yeah i'm hanging to start the texturing, i think i'll do two forms one nice and clean and one batltle worn and see wich one looks the coolest.
ok so i have managed to get the tri count down to 4999, with abit mre to do i m ight be able to include a plasma pistol, heee.

Model is looking good.
I really like the new helm...overall is very nice, real nice.
shadowbreeze
07-07-2007, 09:40 PM
yoyomon -thanks oh and my little rant(feet) was just that not directed at any one;)
Gods Phoenix - thanks, yeah the helm won me over in the end there's so much more you can do with one.
will have some updates soon just finishing the unwrping:mad: and a few concept pieces for this one and another comp.
FredH
07-08-2007, 01:58 AM
The new helm with a visor looks wicked. This character is certainly a step up from your last one:thumb:
Frozan
07-08-2007, 02:17 AM
nice i like how its setup. not so the same on both sides. very non symmetrical.
ThatDon
07-08-2007, 02:19 AM
Very nice model so far Shadow, although it's too bad you don't have any poly's to spare to smooth out some of the more blocky geometry :(
shadowbreeze
07-11-2007, 01:51 AM
FredH - thanks al ot, i,m happy it was approved to do:)
Frozan - thanks yeah i have been told in the past some of my characters were to symmetrical so this time,:D
ThatDon - hey thanks your right so i have removed some polies and added some to the real blocky area's mainly the claws, hmm maybe i'll do a make over for this one shortly and give a 8000 - 9000 budget:lol: .
so here's a small update this is one of the designs i'm working on for the power claw, i'll post the second design tomorrow.

very awesome, I would love to see some wires come out from the knuckles to the fingers though :)
shadowbreeze
07-11-2007, 01:59 AM
ThatDon - thanks lol your breaking my balls here wires hmm i'll see what i can do:thumb:
ThatDon
07-11-2007, 02:14 AM
yeah, you could get away with just using alphas and normal map them like poop did.
BiG ToE
07-11-2007, 09:22 AM
you may want to back off on the wire thing. Could make the hand way to busy. You already have alor going on in that area, adding more may push it over the edge. Plus, if you have that much going on there, you will go crazy trying to match it over the rest of the body.
shadowbreeze
07-12-2007, 01:57 AM
ThatDon - true, just have to see, still have to much high poly stuff to do:uhh:
BiG ToE - yeah i think i'm all ready half crazy  , but i think my computer has the last say in it all as max just crashes when i try to do anything with this mesh and i have just started the pattern work, so i think i'll be doing a different style.
so here's a bit more.
oh and the melted looking parts are meant to be
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q287/shadowbreeze99/big%20Games/claw.jpg
FredH
07-12-2007, 02:24 AM
Looking really good man, you are really loading the details into this one. I agree with big toe, you will probably need to be careful on how much details you put into his arm. If his arm is this worked up, oh my, I can only wonder what the rest of the body will be like:ack: I am looking forward to being impressed:D
shadowbreeze
07-13-2007, 01:40 AM
FredH - thanks alot, yeah i've stopped on the arm now realizing how much time is left and what i need to do, but i'll be doing just as much for the rest of the model that's for sure, because now i really do not want to disappoint.:ack:
here's the start of the head not much yet.
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q287/shadowbreeze99/big%20Games/face.jpg
Miguelito
07-13-2007, 02:51 AM
I like the way the horns are sculpted. Did you use radial symmetry on these? However the face needs some work especially the mouth area.
FredH
07-13-2007, 04:29 PM
Looking good looking good. Careful with her lips. I believe they need some more work. The upper indent that runs down from her nose to her upper lip is missing, and the bottom lip looks a little too straight lined on the bottom.
shadowbreeze
07-13-2007, 04:38 PM
hey thanks guys, but ummm i actually have not started to sculpt the face yet, but i will make sure to pay attention to what you have said:thumb:
Chasarsis
07-13-2007, 06:05 PM
Awesome stuff so far. That face on the armor is a nice touch :D
shadowbreeze
07-14-2007, 09:58 PM
Chasarsis - thanks a lot yeah the daemon face is slowly corrupting her until she becomes one her self.
Miguelito - to answer your question yes, but i did not know that was what it was called. i just do stuff sometines and it works.
so here's another up date i'll post some better pics later, but hopefully you can see the corruption starting to happen.

BiG ToE
07-14-2007, 10:21 PM
you know thats crazy and you are too right. You have now taken this comp, to another level.
Chasarsis
07-14-2007, 11:08 PM
Wow, you're hard edged modeling is crazy. My only thing with such fine details on the armor is that since you're gonna bw using a 1024 map, they might not read to well on the final model ><
Also, did you do all of that by hand, or is that stenciling work?
Frozan
07-15-2007, 04:41 AM
those details look great. as ive learned in the past you can get lost in details really easily. try and force yourself to work the whole character all at once and get more detailed as you go.
yoyomon
07-15-2007, 11:38 PM
Great stuff shadowbreeze.
Big Toe's right, you took it to a... ho..... nuhda.... level....
anyway, other than Chasarsis 1024 concern, I have no crits.
Ultemate
07-16-2007, 06:37 PM
Great job! But I'm agree with guys, we have only 1024 in this comp. So try ro save your time for whole character. :)
shadowbreeze
07-20-2007, 03:02 AM
well after the last few days i have had a systems fatal error, a systems memory dump, and a complete re install oops and a graphics card die ( 7600gtx), so i'm now using a card that does not have D9, cheeze
but i have managed to start some texturing and redo some high poly stuff yay
so thanks for the comments, let see i use a combonation of freehand and alphas
yes i have cut back on the detail, because uhmm yeah i did forget it was only 1024, so thanks , oh and i do have the whole model that i work up to a mid level then i just hide/ unhide what i want to start detailing, and big toe level 6 baby:lol:
yeah so here's where i'm at, still ALOT to do, but i'm not out yet.
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q287/shadowbreeze99/big%20Games/start_1a.jpg
shadowbreeze
07-22-2007, 02:39 AM
ok so i'm slowly getting what i want an starting the textures again after my little nephew said are sick uncle? my reply No why?, well because thats not looking as cool as some of your other textures, do what you said you were going to do:eek:
ah the bluntness of kids, lol got to love it:D
so heres the start of the new work
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q287/shadowbreeze99/big%20Games/face_show.jpg
Marcus Dublin

It's nice to see you working on the texture there shadowbreeze, but before you get to deep in pixel pushing make sure to step back for a second and look at the overall canvas. When I look at your character I get no sense of focus, which means that I can barely identify any primary colors. It's not reading like anything
from any distance, and if you were to imagine her standing in an room surrounded by objects she would get completely lost. I guess what I'm trying to say is take a screen grab of the untextured model and paint in a basic color guide with just the primary colors and then once you find the color scheme you like make sure to build from there. You color guild is just that a guide, and if you were to say pick blue then you can use the associated secondary colors to go with that like purple, brown, etc.
Marcus
PS: The demonic face on the claw is a cool idea!:thumb:
shadowbreeze
07-23-2007, 02:59 AM
Marcus Dublin - yeah i agree totally , i was thrown a bit out of wack by the events of those bad few days, and peeved about my graphic cards, i can not use my shadefx demo:( , but oh well cop it on the chin and move on thats what my sarge use to say:thumb:
so i'm finally starting to get some Rhythm back, i hope to get this one done.

Can't wait to see this one finished. Very beautiful colour combinations. More,
more...
FredH
07-25-2007, 06:47 PM
The armor is looking pretty good, but I wish you would simplify her skin by making it smooth and more human like. This would make a great contrast between your detailed armor because in essence, the smooth face would then become her main focal point. But, don't get me wrong, the way you are going now also looks good:) The horns turned out extremely well, same for the shoulder pad. Nice work man.
shadowbreeze
07-29-2007, 01:02 AM
Amethyst - thanks it was a hard choice for the colors, but now i'm very happy with the choice.
FredH - thank you and your right i've toned down the face area and yeah it does look a hole lot better.
so here's where i'm at STILL a lot to do, 1 spec map, finish normal map and re work some of the textures mainly the cloak and cloth bits, oh and do the Alpha map. cheeze at least i have her fully rigged:ack:

FredH
07-30-2007, 11:19 AM
The submit button will be fixed today or tomorrow, but it's not really important. I can see that all 5 of your images are in, so you are good to go:)
Very nice work man.
shadowbreeze
07-30-2007, 07:22 PM
typhus22 - thanks yeah use the idea if you like:thumb:
ThatDon - thanks man yeah the cloth does have movement but i think it was to small amount to show in the render.
FredH - cool and thanks alot:D
ok so now i'm confused after looking at my renders again and realizing the color was not showing properly i rendered the pose out again, I change nothing AT ALL, same everthing and this morning this is what i got so much more color ???????? WTF.

Congrats on finishing up and making it to the finish line shadowbreeze. Hehe, it took some time but I had to do a double take to see all of the nice little details you worked in, like the demonic skull on her breastplate, very nice touch:cool:. I look forward to seeing more of your work in future comps!:thumb:

I think the thing about the front cloth thats throwing me off is how it's too perfect on the end of it. mess that shit up!!! :)
shadowbreeze
08-05-2007, 07:21 PM
Marcus - thanks the demonic skull was a last minute decision:D
Ultemate - yeah it's a real struggle at the moment, i do have a spare 7600 but i keep getting a signal not found when i use it ????
ThatDon - ok i've started to re work it, this is the progress i'll post the final touch up in my gallery, 1-2 weeks  oh she will have a plasma pistol too
ok so here's some pic's the second one is just a bit of fun, i''l make it properly later:D i think the colors are showing

the new revisions are looking good, but maybe be careful with the light orange background. If you make it light, it will grab attention away from your character, and it will even look like the background is in front of your character.
You really did a nice job on this character. I really like the iron gauntlet.
