- FredH - has entered the competition!
I am going to revise this character.. for the 2nd time. She was my very first game model ever. Mordreth the 1st (literally and figuratively)
Here she is in 2002

Then here is her revision in 2003

Now, I hope to make an even better one:)

She's got only two fingers, or this is just socks? :lucky: In any case she's got charisma. I think that it would be cool to make more complex, twisting tattooes.
Good luck with the comp! :thumb:

With the skill you have now and new experiences it will kick arse.

Hey, thanks guys, I will start on her on monday. I will probably use my original source for inspiration, magnacarta:) For those who don't know this game: http://magnacarta.co.kr/game/character_3.asp
I really like their style.
Hyung Tae-Kim has a very nice style. I look forward to your next iteration.

Have a tiny bit of spare time now that some of gameartisans enhancements are done, so I'll start on my entry now:) Here is a sketch I did today. I am still looking for refs on the net to see what additional gear and jewelry I can give her.
http://www.artbyfh.org/Artwork/Game_Characters/2007_mordreth/sketch_01.jpg
Thanks for the encouragements guys. I hope I'll be able to finish this one. I would like to enter every comp with at least something, whether it be for the 3d challenge, or the concept challenge.

ah cool so your still in, i'm looking forward to seeing what you do, i know it will be awesome as usual.
nice new greaves... more floetry... looks like she's gonna be a dime if she wasnt one already.
Maybe a stack of jeweled bracelets instead of vambraces, just a thought.

I should have taken a less finalized piece. This is going to be a tough one to improve without messing her all up. I guess this in itself is a challenge:p
Small update. Added a few more things.

Gods Pheonix --> I would like to replace her vambraces, but I am not sure with what yet. You are right though, something jeweled sounds like the way to go. Perhaps I can add a few gems in somewhere and see how it looks:) Thanks.

Most of the fixes are done on ga.org, so, back to my entry:D
If I just get a high res model, it would be cool to have it in my gallery. There are actually quite a few jobs available for modelers (highres) only. So, model.. and maybe textures, I'll see how far I get:)

whoo! She's cute, I like her. Especially her sandals, they are awesome.

The color scheme reminds me of Hyung-Tae Kim's Magna Carta design work and it seems like a great fit for your character, now bring on the model.

this looks gorgeous fred. I have no crits at all except for her right arm which should be a pain to animate with the cloth hanging down.
Color scheme is spot on. Great!!!!!!!!

to animate, you can go with a simple bone setup for all the loose clothing, or just add a flex modifier to any areas that hang. Depending on the amount you use, you can get some good results.

She's a little dark skinned for a celt, isn't she? Nice design, none the less.

I think you totally nailed the Magna Carta style you we're going for Fred, instantly recognizable. Looks really nice dude, great character, great work, keep it up!:thumb:

Yeah, great concept, but will we ever see the model stuff? :)
FredH
07-16-2007, 08:34 PM
model? What's that?:p I worked on it a bit, but I still haven't started on the highres mesh:flag: I will start on it tonight. I know it's late. If I can just get a model, I will be happy.
WhiteEagle --> I really looked at magna carta's work for this one. I find its style very facinating. Glad you see this style in my concept:)
Gods Phoenix --> What? there is someone similar to mine in Heavenly sword? Link please
Frozan --> Thanks man.
Jackablade --> Ah, I can see what you mean. The patterns she wears do look very celtic. I might have to change them a bit to give them a more atlantian look (she is from atlantis). Thanks for the suggestion.
StefanH --> Yeah, I imagine in a game, her arm gear would be a pain to deal with. It would probably end up being very still around her arms, and more loose at the ends; hanging parts. Let's keep this problem a secret between us ok? hehe
miezis --> Thanks man:)

I am out. My computer was not powerful enough to bring my zbrush work into max:flag: The good news is, my brother has agreed to lend me his computer for a few months. It's a little late, but I'll be ready for the next comp:D
I'll show my work on mordreth in the 3d game art forum when I finish her up with my new computer:)
Good luck everyone. Only 2 days left.
