Awesome choice Max, I played this game religiously when it came out and play it on my computer every now and then. I even unapologetically ripped the staff design for a mage that I did, hehe. Anyway I can't wait to see how you spin this design into something new.

been a while since I picked up a pencil to draw something!!! :cry:
but it's slowly coming back to me now (I hope that it is)
but here's some ideas that are helping me figure out my final composition...

nice ideas. good variety. the original character seems like some kind of ninja magic user. maybe play that up in your thumbs. i like aspects of all of them but what seems to remind me most of the original character is the 4th one on the top and the 1st one on the top. i would think a magic user would be very weak to melee attacks so i would keep his armor minimal or make it very light looking. good start man.

This a game I love watching people play (because I suck at it).

Cool variations. I dig the 2nd on the 2nd row. But I guess one of the stuffs that stick out form the Magic User is his streak of white hair among his black hair.

Hah I always use this character!! I love that game. I like the first and last ones their the most magic usery to me. on a side note does anyone know who the artist of the original artwork is.

I like the last one in the top row. A simplistic design that, I think, conveys his magic using properties very well.

man thats a pretty cool style. the staff seems a little short though, almost like its getting stopped by the size of the image. also those other ones look awesome. the feet and arms look a little out of proportion? i might be wrong just something there doesnt feel right. again looks great keep it up!

This was one of my favorite games. Right now, i think his shoes could use something more. The look rather simple when compared with the rest of him.
Can't wait to see what comes next.

Lovely pencils...! I like the bald one tribal looking one... but He wouldn't be as recognizable as the one you have chosen. However I think his silhouette is a slight bit feminine.

Cool design, love the hair... I'm not feeling that skirt thing tho, maybe more like the 5th thumbnail's (the bald guy with tatoos) lower half, but thats just me. And thanks for the artist name he kicks ass!!

The shoes bug me as well, they seem to throw off the rest of the design for some strange reason, he could also benefit from slightly broader shoulders as well. The hair makes for a nice silhouette and reminds me of the King of Fighters series Benimaru!:)
