Midknight from Eternal Champions. Great fight game for the Sega Genesis back in the mid-90s. More fun than the Street Fighter or MK versions out at the time IMO.
Anyway this guy Midknight has one of the cooler back stories of the game. He was a biochemist working for the CIA in the 60s and accidentally infected himself with a biological agent he was developing for use in the Vietnam War. He fights in the Jun Ken Do style and his flesh happens to be wasting away due to the disease. So: and English vampire/zombie that fights and moves like Bruce Lee.

Eternal Champions goes down as one of the worst Fighting games ever :ack: but I'm curious to see what you do with the redesign.

Time's really gotten away from me on this one:paper: I'll be posting some concept sketches soon here. Hopefully I can take advantage of the holiday and get a few hours of work time to finish up some of my ideas.

Really nice start here. It's was a tough choice. I think I like the top third one with the trench coat and black suit, but I like the length of the trench coat in the bottom last one better.

I'm liking the second bottom one, the one with the robotic limbs, but try to keep the hair in somehow.

Hey guys some sketches getting the idea for the final. Incorporating some parts of a couple of the different designs including the two that Fred and 3d mentioned. Hopefully some orthos tomorrow night or so and god willing a final render by the deadline. :think:

After a little more sketching and tooling around I think that I'm going to leave him his face. Not that the whole death's head thing isn't badass... I just think having the face will make it easier to make him an expressive character, instead of a monster. And yes, I think some hair as well.

I think you should start with your final, and then work on your orthos after. I say this because in the bhg challenge, I took the same path your suggested, and I had to rework my orthos because my color concept turned out to look very different with color. But, it's up to you:)

The Dr Doom look is a nice direction to take this guy. Gives him a more scientist and evil look. The back view with the armor around his shoulders was also a nice touch. Hope you will have time to finish this. Looking good so far.

Busting it tonight to try to drag myself across the finish line. Here's what I've got so far on the winning pose. Hopefully I can get a good chunk of the shading and coloring done tonight and work on the ortho tomorrow.Anybody who logs in in the next 24, go ahead and give me your thoughts. I'd love some final input. Congrats to everyone who's finished already. :thumb:

update:

Always hated this character... Blade. Anyhoo... needed a victim for the life drain attack that was kind of Midknight's signature move in the game... I've made it a touch more vicious than the original.

ah well I guess it wasn't to be. I've run out of time. Thanks those of you that logged into the thread to help me. No excuses. Tomorrow is another day (and hopefully another contest eventually) hopefully I'll be able to take a more active part in that one.
