Somewhere in the midst of DragonBall Z characters I did this. Dated from March of '01, I created his guy with the intentions of him being in a Quake 2 machinima. It was to be the origin story of one of my "comic book" characters, and this was the main guy before gaining his powers.
The story was never fully thought out, I only had bits and pieces, but I want to take this as an opportunity to flesh this out a little. So an updated description will come, as soon as I think of one:)

Red Steel anyone? Hahaha this looks like it could be tons of fun to rework, there’s nothing like a simple bad ass in a suit. For inspiration check out the Final Fantasy Advent children characters Reno and Rude:

Give him a real nice and stylish Armani.

I'd say ditch the upper half of the suit. Keep the pants... he needs pants, of course. But ditch the shirt and tie and show off some crazy ass Yakuza tats. Yeah....

That actually sounds like a sweet idea Bbox85, hopefully mookster goes that way.:lucky:

Bbox: reading my mind in reverse, I was gonna loose the pants:) Cool idea about the tat, still playing with it though.
simple bad ass in a suit
Thats why Im a little hesitant to put up the concept and ideas I have, and actually bring them into the updated model. Theres nothing wrong with a bad ass in a suit, but I "know" this character and where I want to go seems right to me. However someone looking at the original model isn't going to look at it and see that he has super powers.
Either way I was able to do a base and a little sculpting.

concept:
Original character was bearer of two gems called 'Dragon Eyes', and almost a knockoff of Witchblade and The Darkness. He was part of a type of Yakuza, and while out on an assignment obtained the gems from the previous owner.
updated ideas
The 'Dragon Eyes' are a sort of symbiote, choosing the next person based on experiences its lacks. How much control the gems has is dependent on its host. If the bearer is weak, the gems maintain dominant control of the host. Yet, if they are stronger and in control of their feelings, the host has the ability to use and shape the 'Dragon Eyes' to suit their personal needs.
While trying to steal the gems from his boss, he gets a sword across the face. Left for dead the gems attach their selves to his forearms and begin transforming him and healing the wound across his face. Confused by what is happening he attempts to stop their spread by tying off his arms with his belt and tie.

If anyone thinks this is to far from the spirit of the comp, I'll remove the symbiote parts.

as long as he's got a katana and a kodachi, i have no complaints.
lol, no seriously though, there shouldn't be a problem with the idea you've got. i don't think its too different to what ur original story could've turned out to be :D!

I really like his mouth. It makes him look really serious and ready for business. I wonder though if increasing the thickness of his ears would help. They seem a tad too razon sharp thin. Aside from that, the body is shaping up really well. Looking forward to seeing more:thumb:

Thanks Fred. I'm having a bit of trouble with the ears. The sculpting is pulling the back too close. Ill probably just do another set and combine them in the normal map.
Didn't realize the deadline was creeping up so fast.
Game plan:
Hi done by Monday night/early Tuesday
Lo, uv, baking done by Thursday
Texture worked on until final submission
And somewhere in there I figure out how I'm gonna do the hair:)

lookin pretty hawt. his legs look a little to thin and the arm on the left side seems a little overly thick in the muscle. looks defiantly getting there and a insane jump from what u had before. :)
very nice overall, I particularly like how the shirt wrinkles flow with the shoulder strap

Yeah the legs need a bit of bulking up, not by much if your going for the slender look but I'd add 20% in the thighs and 15% in the lower half. The Gauntlet seems a little out of place but hey I guess it could work!:)

Thanks Gods Phoenix and Frozan.
Marcus and Frozan: Yeah I still gotta pump those legs up some more.
Bit more to do. I need to fix the size of the hilt and maybe pull the back of the upper arm out more. Also the skinning in the hands need to be cleaned up.
Count is at 4585. Don't know if I'm gonna be able to do a pedestal.

If you can spend some quality time in the texture work and adjust the proportions a bit you'll have a solid final entry on your hands. One suggestion for the gauntlet texture would be the Witchblade route, something pretty demonic would be really cool and fitting as well, just my two cents! Good luck!
