Gallery Testing

The gallery options have finally been finished (just have to fix domwar revision pages..:flag: )

If you have any suggestions for improvements, can you please list them here? I think most of the bugs have been crushed, but, it would be nice to have a fresh perspective on everything:)

So far so good, I haven’t had any problems with it at all for the respected sections and the layout is really intuitive as well. Good job!:thumb:

I should mention, becarefull about uploading funny images. Wallpapers and Gallery thumbnails can be seen by the public on: www.gameartisans.org/gamecon/index.htm.

someone uploaded a error error image for a wallpaper I see:p

I think one of the big problems is if you upload personal artwork, they appear in thumbnail size at full file size:flag: So galleries will be a nightmare to 56k users if someone uploads 10 personal images. We will probably change this soon.

Things that have been found so far:

- In revision pages, using >'< in text prevents all text from being saved
- showing an initial thumbnail in revision pages is misleading since they don't actually show to the public unless a new one is uploaded.
- For personal works, showing small thumbnails at full high resolution file size, will crush 56k users.

just wondering what the red thumbs up signifies in our galleries? the trophy is clearly the number of compo participations and wins.... but what are the thumbs up?

That's for comments. Non-Registered users can leave comments in artists galleries. You will also be able to delete messages and respond to these messages if you would like.

I really like the image uploading. I like it all on one page; it makes it nice and quick. One thing that confused my small brain was there is a hyphen in front of the "Gallery" views. I actually thought that I had negative views... :paper:

Also, the search feature is a little cumbersum in my opinion. You can't search by name? What the heck?

...but, you can search by name. There is a name field on the left menu. I think it should be functional:eek:

You know, even though I designed it, yeah, that hyphen even confused me:p I will remove it. Thanks for confirming this problem.

Oh! Jesus...I didn't see that search field...well there you go.

Another thing real quick: I think it's a tad hard to get to users gallery...like it's in the back corner of the site? Maybe it's me but when you go to the "public profile" of a user it doesn't go to the gallery. I just think that everything should point to the galleries first...Like will we have to add a link to the gallery in our sig to have a direct link?

dunno if i mentioned it... but the window that pops up on clicking the personal art pieces should also have 'next' and 'previous' buttons... if its not too tedious to insert. its not really _needed_ to be honest, but would be a convenient addition.

I see what you mean. This is a major fix. In the weeks ahead, I will try to get an icon that says "Visit gallery" displayed somewhere on everyone's forum posts. Same goes for the comp icons. They still need to be tied in with the galleries.

Indian --> Yes, this can be added. There is another option I will add to personal art too: Load up to 4 images for each slot. There is no sense just showing one image for 3d. It would be cool to see the final, the wires, and a concept and/or texture sheet in the same window.

Hi,

Does anyone else have problems uploading images to your personal Gallery.
Occasionally I have had success in uploading works, but it normally does nothing after I click 'Next Page' on the 'Artwork Upload Panel'!

My images are Jpegs and are the under 1000*1000 pixels and below 250kb in size.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
