Ok, so I think this is the second thread I started about this game (First was on CGChat ;) ). I've had it for a little over a year and a half but never had a chance to play it because I tried to mod my X-Box with no success, so I couldn't play it. Then it got buried under piles of other games.

Well, there was a patch for the 360 that put the game on the backwards compatibility list and here I am today: This game is awesome. It's like watching an awesome mystery/action movie!! I started playing it last Friday and in bits of spare time, I played it and enjoyed every second of it and finished it this morning (2am).

The way the story ended is awesome. I guess I got one of a few endings, but I was on the edge of my seat for the action sequences. And now I have to play again and try to get all of them in the movie section. You're too busy doing the DDR input stuff to pay attention to what's going down on-screen.

It's freakin' awesome for someone to go out on a limb and make a game like this. And from what I read, it didn't sell very well... buried under the other crap that's out there.

It's on the PS2, XBox and PC, and can be had for about $15~$20. It's worth it.

Yeah, that game was a truly awesome experience. I agree with what you say, except the part about the ending. Towards the ending, my experience just tumbled in a downward spiral, and the actual finale just made me feel cheated. I'd have punched David Cage in the face then and there, had he asked me what I thought right afterwards.

Still, it is definitely in my top 10 list of best emotional immersion I've had while playing a game :)

OMG, a buddy of mine was just talking about this game today! It came up when we were chatting about story in games and believable characters. Hehe, this is truly odd, I'm going to have to find this gem in the bargain bin!

The game was/is amazing. I loved just sitting in the apartment playing the guitar. And the using the punching bag. Really immense and imersive title. Bought it when it was first released, and I still enjoy playing it even now.

After having played The Darkness through (which in many ways was a lot like Fahrenheit, just not as.. good) I realized how similar the two games are. Not as much the gameplay, but the overall feel of the games.

Mainly the "girlfriend section" of The Darkness reminded me of Fahrenheit a lot.
