BioWare is the newest member of the incredible family of EA studios and has created some of the world's best-selling titles, including the award-winning Baldur's Gate™, Neverwinter Nights™ series, and Star Wars®: Knights of the Old Republic™. Original BioWare-created IPs include Jade Empire™ and the critically acclaimed, Mass Effect. BioWare is hard at work on the epic fantasy RPG Dragon Age™; Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood™ for the Nintendo DS™; and an unannounced project including a highly anticipated massively multiplayer online game.

BioWare Austin is seeking candidates for the position of Game Play Programmer to help create BioWare’s first Massively Multiplayer Online game. The Gameplay Programmer creates gameplay related code such as UI, game systems, AI and more. This position reports to the Gameplay Lead Programmer and assists them in bringing high quality gameplay to our MMO.
Key Responsibilities
• Designs, develops, writes, tests and implements game system code and authoring tools.
• Works with designers, artists and other personnel involved in the development of products as required.
• Writes clear, maintainable, portable code.
• Development of technical design specifications and implementation.
• Contributes ideas towards game production and development.
• Partner with Lead Programmer to implement gameplay systems and refine as needed.
• Test and refine gameplay features throughout the development cycle of the project.
• Accurately estimates his/her schedules with some oversight and delivers high quality work products to that schedule.
Skills/Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering or related discipline is strongly preferred
• 3 or more years of professional game software development experience in building gameplay systems within games
• Expertise in C++ and object oriented design principles
• Experience with Flash programming a plus
• Comfortable working within an existing code base
• Experience with large client/server projects
• Able to identify and solve problems creatively with some guidance
• Strong interpersonal skills and problem solving ability
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
• Passion for playing video games
