Hey all, i'm looking to start a new character and have been wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a good human photo face/body resource website... the kind with good sized images and straight on and side shots for acurate modeling??

yea, 3d.sk is the way to go. you have to pay for it, but's not a lot of money, i even managed to subscribe for a while, and i'm a broke student.
you're allowed to downlaod something like 150 images a day. my mistake was i kept forgetting to download images, so i ended up subscribing for 3 months or so and only getting about 300 photos. you live and learn! if it's just faces and other basic body parts, there's nothing wrong with snapping ur own, just make sure you take them right.

Google is a great place to find photos. There is some great books out there with cds attached and 3d world magazine sometimes has photos of people to use as reference

The Buddy Scalera books are good. All you need is one though. After the
"People & Poses" book, the material gets redundant.

However, the "Facial Expressions" book is a must have.

I'd probably avoid the Posefile books. They tout hundreds and hundreds of photos. That much is true. However, they only present a couple of actual poses. You literally get dozens of angles on a single pose. Not too helpful unless you're hellbent on drawing one pose. Plus, they're printed on cheap paper that's close to newsprint. Not worth the money no value there. Add to that a lack of CD and these books are a waste of money.

Google really is a valuable point of reference. You don't always get the ultra high quality studio photos of 3d.sk. However, what you give up in depth you get in breadth.
